that was at ces, i've noticed him mentioning k.dot's album in most his posts lately

They fucked kendrick by releasing his album near meeks. Meek mills buzz is HUGE.
I think kendricks album was good, I felt the production could have been better for the brotha imo. Will give my take on meek tonite.
still on track to do 200k 1st week

I just checked out Meek's album and I thought it was only alright. Dude can actually spit (never really checked his music before) but none of the songs were that great to me. Plus all the features kind of took away from it for me too. Most of them were pretty bad and it made me kind of feel like dude couldn't hold his own through a full album alone or something.

Kendrick's I've listened to about three times now and while I do think there are some really great songs on there, and I liked the whole concept of the album, I think he could have put out something quite a bit doper. Even the songs I really liked don't have me like "damn I want to bump ________ again right now" or play the same song 3 times in a row like a lot jams I really like do. It was still a good step up from Section 80 but I think he can and probably will release something better in his career.

I voted for Kendrick. I think the album could have been better and is it getting pretty overhyped at this point but it is a good album and the better of the two to me for sure.

Meek Mills is way better, production means a lot and Kendricks just didnt do it for me besides like 3 tracks. Meeks album has about 7 tracks that are pretty clean. The intro/selftitled track set the tone for the album pretty well and the last track ended it well. Could of done without a bunch of tracks though like the one with Drake which was obviously a single.

Weird you say that because while I do agree the beats on Kendrick's could have been better I thought what killed Meeks the most for me was the beats. They were just pretty awful for the most part and/or sounded like a beat you have heard 1000 times before even if it wasn't straight biting a different song.

my exact thoughts. plus meeks voice is aggressive and moving to me he sounds more hungry then kendrick. kendricks voice boring as fuck and his raps be sounding like gibberish freestyles that go over mosts heads most the time. his album just sounded more like a mixtape to me then a complete album.

Thanks for everyone who contributed to this thread its always good to hear opinions since everyone has different tastes in music.

but congrats to both for even being able to drop they debuts bc theres alot signed rappers who wont see a release date for they debut albums. the reason i made this thread is bc both these guys are being talked about majorly positive or negative and their albums will end up being rival since they a week apart.

who yall think will sell more?.

Overall album goes to Kendrick; his is cohesive with minimal features and it will probably grow on me.

As far as production goes, Meek hands down. Lots of songs to rattle the trunk, whereas Kendrick didn't have many.

As far as lyricism and flow goes, Kendrick takes it, but his voice gets too weird sometimes and ruins the track. Meek has a mostly one-dimensional flow which gets old after about 30 minutes.

Both albums only had 2 or 3 tracks that I hated. (Both had Drake & Mary J Blige features).

Both albums were pretty good, but totally different. I still need to soak them in more.

Only track that reminded me of what ur talking bout is #5 Believe It, that sounded like a track straight from his mixtape and sounded exactly like a Lex Luger beat but it aint, they need to stay away from them type beats.
