I respect your opinion, and you're definitely entitles to it. However, I have to highly disagree with you.

Nobody gives a shit about a regional sound nowadays. I don't want an artist to try to make their albums sound region specific. I think that will limit their artistic ability by trying to fit in a box. He could have a great song lined up, but not include it on the album because it sounds like a song from the south or a song from the east coast. I like hip hop from all regions, as long as it's good IMO.

And as far as Kendrick not having his own sound. I disagree. I think he's got a more unique style than a lot of other artists out there today. Sure he has some influences from other artist in his music, but who doesn't?

You're also contradicting yourself. you say you want him to be more regions specific (which would mean sounding more like other west coast artists) yet you you're knocking him for not having his own sound. it's like you're arguing with yourself.

also, I'm not saying it's a classic, nor have I seen anyone call it a classic personally. I don't think you can call ANY album classic 3 days after it leaked on the internet. It's a great album though, IMO.

I stated in another thread that Kendrick artistically painted a different view point of Compton. The beats, and mix where excellent. I agree with meta that you can't call a classic album in a few days. We will judge if its classic a few years from now. I do know every re-listen I pick out new things. So it's way deeper of a album then most albums.

I agree with his whiney, or kermit the frog voice, is a little annoying in instances. I thing he has an identity, but I also think its still developing. He's not suppose to be in his prime yet.

Copped the album, deluxe edition, been a fan of Kendrick since he went by K.Dot.
Definitely a versatile album, almost as if there's a joint for every region, now him Curren$y and Stalley need to get on a joint together.

i think what really makes kendrick stand out is his storytelling, subject matter and substance as an artist... as far as not having a regional sound who cares his album is all about his city and everybody already knows where he's from anyway (which, at the end of the day doesnt even matter). i think that west coast regional sound youre talking about got old in the late 90s brah.

IMO dope album. Kendrick is a good story teller and that is missing these days. Not saying its a classic. But it's as solid or better then anything regional or west coast that has dropped recently. Props on a solid album.
