Just read that physical copies of her album were only sold in Hot Topic as a Hot Topic exclusive. I'm not defending this chick by any means, because for the most part she's pretty terrible as a rapper, but Columbia basically fucked off her sales by making a deal with Hot Topic only. They lost all those impulse shoppers walking around Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart etc.

Yea during the first week of its release it was only on sale at hot topic as an exclusive

I mean yeah those are shitty numbers but GOOD's Cruel Summer didn't even hit 250,000 first week and that's some shit Kanye released. The MMG release fell short of 100,000. The days of a new artist, or more or less any artist outside of like Justin Bieber, other major pop stars and some of these country stars, selling a shit load of records period, let alone first week, is long over. I know that's kind of apples to oranges but even just 5 years ago Cruel Summer would have went at very least gold first week more than likely.

All the money is in touring and merch these days. The digital age pretty much killed record sales in a physical format and it's going to keep getting worse. Sadly for Kreayshawn I've seen some of her live concert footage (don't ask why lol) and I don't think her shows will be a strong point for her either.

You make a good point. Cd sales have been bad and their going to get worse. Cds in the next 5 years are gonna go the way of cassettes
