"I did not want to fight for the WBA title. At this point, it's all about enhancing my legacy," Mayweather said.
"I've done a lot of things in this sport, things that a lot of fighters weren't able to do in the sport and didn't do in the sport. This fight with Shane Mosley will enhance my legacy."

Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's adviser and CEO of Mayweather Promotions, issued similar comments.

"At this level it's not about belts. It's about building his legacy, and money," Ellerbe said. "Floyd is already the best fighter in the world. Why does he need to fight for a belt to prove that
Floyd is a fucking moron, here's another quote that he said in Mayweather-Mosley 24/7:

Floyd Mayweather Jr said:
"I'm 33, I don't fight for legacy or none of that, I fight for that check."

This guy is a walking contradiction, and only makes himself look like an idiot.

LOL, yeah he did contradict himself. I don't take his trash talk seriously though. It's just for the 24/7 series. I think he fights for both legacy and the money.

Roach: Mayweather Will Be Quicker, He'll Beat Mosley

By Mark Vester

Since the day the fight was signed, trainer Freddie Roach picked Floyd Mayweather Jr. to win a twelve round decision over WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. The fight is only a few days away, taking place on May 1 in Las Vegas, and Roach is still backing Mayweather to win on points. Roach doesn't think Mosley will be able to deal with the speed or counter-punching style of Mayweather.

“Mosley likes guys coming at him, that’s why he looked so good against [Antonio] Margarito, but it is not the same story when he fights counter-punchers. Manny wanted to face Margarito after he beat Oscar De La Hoya. Margarito suited Mosley down to his bootlaces. Mayweather won’t do that. Mayweather will bide his time, and he’ll be quicker than Mosley. Mayweather is a brilliant boxer, but he’s not a crowd pleaser. It may not be a great fight,” Roach told Gareth Davies of The Telegraph.

If Mayweather wins, Roach still wants the fight with Manny Pacquiao to take place. He thinks a deal can be reached on the issue of Olympic Style drug testing, which caused the negotiations to fall apart earlier this year. If Pacquiao beats Mayweather, Roach would like to see him retire. If Mayweather is not there, Roach may have to settle for either Antonio Margarito or Juan Manuel Marquez.

“Manny wants the fight. The drug testing issue is there, but we’ll come to an agreement. I’d like Manny to fight Mayweather next, if Mayweather wins, and then retire after that fight. It would be the greatest test for Manny, and he would have to fight the perfect fight. I think Manny has nowhere to go after that, and I’m just pleased he has lots of interests and businesses outside the sport,” Roach said.

it's pretty much random, depends on the fight, it's length and it's quality and what I originally got it in (DVD or avi file). Once I have some free time I'm going to put a lot more details on the website, breaking down each fight and it's quality (on a scale of 1-10), it's length, etc. For now just ask if you're interested and I'll get back to you.

Floyd is Focused on Mosley, But Takes a Shot at Manny

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

Floyd Mayweather Jr (40-0, 25 KO’s) faces Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) in a welterweight bout that could well be his stiffest test of his career the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday with the showdown being telecast by Solar Sports in the Philippines and ABS-CBN over The Filipino Channel in the middle east.

Rather than concentrate on Mosley, Mayweather couldn’t help but talk about his own legacy and claiming that while such greats as Sugar Ray Robinson was “one hell of a fighter, Floyd Mayweather is the best” at the same time questioning Pacquiao’s selection as the “Fighter of the Decade” by the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America where the pound-for-pound king routed Mayweather by an overwhelming margin of over 2 to 1 in the boxing writers votes.

Most ringside experts regard Pacquiao as the world’s No.1 but Mayweather continued his insinuations about Pacquiao’s skill and punching power and once again issued a challenge to the Filipino boxing hero to take the random drug tests which Mayweather insisted on, resulting in the collapse of talks for a Pacquiao-Mayweather megabuck super-fight.

Mayweather and his handlers led by Leonard Ellerbe suddenly brought up the issue of random drug tests to be conducted by the US Anti Doping Agency during the negotiations for a Pacquiao fight and demanded that the tests be conducted up to 14 days before the planned May 1 bout. Pacquiao agreed to the random drug tests and offered a 24 day cut-off and a test immediately after the fight in his dressing room which Mayweather rejected, resulting in the fight negotiations being called off.

Mayweather continued his tirade on the random drug tests insinuating that Pacquiao was reluctant to take the tests because he had something to hide . Mayweather insisted “All I’m saying, if you’re a clean athlete, take your test. That’s all I’m saying. That’s all I’ve got to say. If you’re a clean athlete, take the test.”

Mayweather also pushed the line that Pacquiao struggled twice against Juan Manuel Marquez even as he claimed “which we know he (Pacquiao) really lost, right? And we know he’s been knocked out twice. He’s been out-boxed by Eric Morales, but they still give him ‘Boxer of the Decade.’ So that’s something I don’t understand. He beat a Miguel Cotto who just got pummeled with a cast. So I mean, tell me what it really is.”

What Mayweather failed to mention was the fact that in the Morales fight Pacquiao suffered a nasty gash over his left eye due to an accidental head-butt which bled profusely and badly hampered his vision and that Pacquiao mauled Morales in the rematch and knocked the Mexican legend out in three rounds to end their trilogy.

In the first Marquez fight one of the judges who confessed to making a mistake by not scoring the first round in their initial encounter 10-7 after Pacquiao dropped Marquez three times helped Marquez salvage a draw while Pacquiao won the rematch by a split decision after he dropped Marquez one more time.

Mayweather who had previously claimed Pacquiao who pummeled Oscar De La Hoya into quitting after seven rounds and separated Ricky Hatton from his senses in a devastating 2nd round knockout got them out after he had battered and softened them up, failed to mention that he only won a decision over Marquez who had been knocked down four times in two fights by Pacquiao and was basically a finished and ageing fighter when he faced Mayweather. Mayweather also failed to note that he was two pounds over the stipulated weight limit, refused to shed off the excess weight and instead paid a $600,000 penalty which gave him a huge advantage in size.

In the case of the knockouts, Pacquiao was a raw kid when he got decked by a lucky punch from bull-strong Rustico Torrecampo in only Pacquiao’s eleventh fight and his knockout against Medgoen Singsurat or 3K Battery happened after the Filipino starved f or days to reduce weight but still failed to do so and was utterly exhausted and dehydrated when he entered the ring with some suspicion that the Thais had tampered with the scales

David Haye Sends a Message of Support To Maccarinelli

By Terence Dooley

Enzo Maccarinelli goes into the lion's den tonight in a bid to relaunch a career that has floundered since a March 2008 loss to David Haye. Haye, who hammered Enzo to defeat in two rounds, has revealed that Enzo wished him well prior to David's WBA heavyweight title defence against John Ruiz and has reciprocated the gesture by telling Enzo he can still become a major force on the cruiserweight scene.

Enzo takes on Alexander Kotlobay in Saint Petersburg, Russia for the vacant EBU cruiserweight title. His 18-1-1 (12) Russian opponent is in a good run of form and has shown heavy hands of late. Haye, though, feels that Enzo’s quality will shine through in this one.

“I hope Enzo wins tonight because he deserves it,” said Haye, when talking to The South Wales Evening Post. “He is a good pro and winning the European title would put him right back into the mix among the world contenders. He has the talent to become a world champion again, no doubt about it.”

Enzo, 31-4 (24 early), has scored back-to-back first round wins over Krisztian Jaksi and Zoltan Czekus yet his last title action saw him destroyed in three rounds by Denis Lebedev. 'Big Mac' had previously lost in the ninth round to Ola Afolabi after building up an early lead. Three stoppage losses in his last six fights have left Enzo staring into the abyss and he is now in a must-win situation.

Pacquiao: A Big Possibility That I Will Fight Mayweather

By Mark Vester

WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is on the campaign trail. Pacquiao is campaigning to land a seat in the Philippine Congress. The elections are scheduled for May 10. Nine-days prior to the elections, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley will clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The biggest fight in boxing would pit Pacquiao against the winner of Mayweather-Mosley.

Mayweather is the favorite to beat Mosley, with Pacquiao's own trainer Freddie Roach backing him to win a unanimous decision. Pacquiao was asked by a reporter if he thinks a fight with Mayweather could happen - should Mayweather win on Saturday - and Pacquiao wins the election. The Filipino fighter gave his answer, and said there is a "big possibility" the fight will happen.

“There’s that big possibility. My mother wants me to retire from boxing; it’s 50-50 at this point," Pacquiao said during an interview in Manila.

While his mother is pushing him to retire, Pacquiao says a fight with Mayweather would probably be his last before retirement.

The fight was in talks earlier this year. The negotiations crumbled over the issue of random Olympic-style drug testing. Pacquiao's trainer Roach had recently said in several interviews that he was pretty sure the two sides would reach an agreement on the drug testing issue.

If Pacquiao wins the election, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, expects him to return to the ring in November. If Pacquiao loses the election, a return would happen in September

Maccarinelli KO’s Kotlobay in 1st round!

By William Mackay: Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (32-4, 25 KO’s), now a 2nd tier fighter, stopped his fellow 2nd tier opponent Russian Alexander Kotlobay (18-2-1, 12 KO’s) in the 1st round on Tuesday night to capture the European Boxing Union (EBU) cruiserweight title Yubileiny Sports Palace, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The win was only the 4th in the last 7 fights for Maccarinelli, who was stopped three times the past two years by David Haye, Ola Afolabi and Denis Lebedev.

The 29-year-old Maccarinelli absolutely had to get the win over the Russian to stay relevant in the boxing world, and thankfully he came up with the win, albeit against a fighter that has still yet to fight a top tier fighter during his career. Maccarinelli jumped on Kotlobay from the very get go, attacking him to the body with hard hooks and mixing in big shots to the head. Say what you want about Maccarinelli’s chin not being the best, the guy can really punch hard with both hands.

He looked awesome in taking apart Kotlobay. Maccarinelli quickly put Kotlobay down with a big right hand to the head. Upon getting up, Kotlobay was met with withering fire from Maccarinelli, who backed him up against the ropes with a heavy salvo of blows. With Kotlobay getting riddled to pieces by Maccarinelli, referee Erkki Meronen stepped in and stopped the assault just after Maccarinelli landed a huge uppercut to the head of Kotlobay. The bout was stopped at 2:15 of the round.

All in all, it was a good win for Maccarinelli. He showed a lot of power and, at least in terms of offensive skills, he’s one of the best fighters in the cruiserweight division. I can’t say too much about his opponent, though. Maccarinelli beat a guy that hasn’t faced the same kind of opposition that he had and who was really untested until tonight. I would have liked to have seen Maccarinelli use his size by trying to box from the outside more, because he’s going to need to develop his boxing skills in the future if he wants to be successful in the division.

Maccarinelli, as he often does, fought in close like a shorter fighter, and was within range of Kotlobay’s punches, if he had been able to throw any. It didn’t matter tonight, but Maccarinelli needs to learn to use his 6’4” height and start boxing from the outside to protect his chin in future fights. He needs someone like Emanuel Steward to teach him to fight tall, his jab and stay out of the reach of shorter fighters, because I think Maccarinelli will have problems in the future if he continues to crowd his opponents and negate his reach advantage. If Maccarinelli had a great chin, then it wouldn’t matter, but obviously his chin is his weak spot.

In other action on the card:

Sherali Mamadaliev KO 1 Herve De Luca
Dmitry Sukhotsky TKO 1 Pablo Daniel Zamora Nievas
Maxim Vlasov TKO 3 Vasyl Kondor
Elis Idrisov dec 6 Andrejs Barabanovs
Hurshid Abdullaev KO 2 Alexey Kulikov
Ivan Maslov UD 6 Serkomil Rahimov

Pacquiao expects Mayweather to run from Mosley

By Dan Ambrose: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao gave his own prediction for this Saturday night’s fight between undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. and WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley, picking Mosley to win and thinks that Mayweather will run from him. In an interview by Greg Leon at Boxing Talk, Pacquiao said “I think Mosley has a great chance of winning. I expect him and his team to come up with different plans to fight Mayweather, who I think will run all night.” There you have it. Pacquiao thinks that the 38-year-old Mosley will beat Mayweather this Saturday at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather is unbeaten at 40-0, 25 KO’s. However, many of Mayweather’s best wins have come in the distant past, and he hasn’t faced anyone his own size for long while. It’s been three years since Mayweather fought Oscar De La Hoya, a light middleweight at the time, but old and considered past his prime. Although technically a junior middleweight at the time that he fought Mayweather, De La Hoya was more of a welterweight who put on extra weight to fight at light middleweight.

Mayweather hasn’t fought anyone his size that had much talent for ages. This is why Mayweather, 5’8”, could be in serious trouble this Saturday night against the slightly taller and equally talented 5’9” Mosley. Mayweather doesn’t like to mix it up, preferring to move a lot on the outside to avoid taking shots. Mosley doesn’t like to get hit either, but he’s willing to mix it up and isn’t afraid to take shots in order to land his own. Mosley throws more punches than Mayweather and might hit a little harder.

Mayweather has the better defensive skill of the two. If Mosley can force Mayweather to stand and trade with him, the fight will favor Mosley because Mayweather doesn’t like to fight hard for any length of time. It’s been a long time since Mayweather was forced to throw a lot of punches and there’s a concern here that he could tire out quickly if Mosley gets him in a war.

There’s also the question about how much punishment Mayweather can take. Because of his movement and defensive skills, he’s rarely taken that many shots in any one fight during his career. If Mosley is able to land as often as he did in his last fight against Antonio Margarito, then there’s a chance that he could take Mayweather out.

Froch asks for “1 million quid” to fight Abraham in Germany – News

Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) doesn’t want any part of having to travel to Germany to fight Arthur Abraham in the stage 3 part of the Super Six tournament. Froch has recently said that he will pull out of the Super Six tournament if he’s forced to fight Abraham in Germany rather than Nottingham, England, where Froch lives. In an article at the , Froch says “It would take at least a million quid for me to fight in Germany – the same money I’d get in the semi final or final, because I couldn’t get the decision on points over there.”

Froch lost his fight last weekend to Mikkel Kessler by a 12 round unanimous decision in Herning, Denmark. The scores were 117-111, 116-112, and 115-113, all for Kessler. Froch feels that he was ripped off by the judges. However, most boxing fans are in general agreement bout the decision. There are number of British fans that feel that Froch should have won, but many of them agree with the outcome.

The only question about the fight is the one judge that scored it 117-111. The bout was very close and it’s hard to understand what he saw from Kessler that would lead him to believe that he had dominated Froch to such an extent in the fight. Froch looked lazy and tired in the middle rounds of the fight and didn’t really get active until the last three rounds of the fight. Before that, Froch looked listless, except for the 5th, and didn’t fight in the same high energy manner that he usually does in his fights. Kessler’s body attack could have something to do with that, as Kessler focused a lot of his punches on the midsection of Froch and had him backing up much of the time in the fight.

Froch’s request of 1 million quid, which comes out to over $1 million American dollars, might not be received positively by the Super Six tournament organizers nor the boxing fans, who could see it as a childish tantrum from Froch to get his own way. It also could be seen as a strong-armed tactic, because with Froch threatening to pull out of the Super Six tournament unless he gets more money or gets the fight changed to Nottingham, it could hurt the tourney if he does wind up pulling out.

There really aren’t any suitable replacements that could come in such short notice to replace an exciting fighter like Froch. Unless International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight champion Lucian Bute suddenly showed interest in stepping in to fill the void left by Froch, the Super Six tournament would likely flounder without Froch. The tourney has already lost one contestant Jermain Taylor, who pulled out after sustaining a bad knockout loss at the hands of Arthur Abraham last October. If Froch leaves the tourney, it would likely cause fans to lose interest.

However, if Froch does receive an extra payment to fight in Germany, it could cause the other fighters to want extra payments as well for their fights. This is why I seriously doubt that Froch will get his demands for extra money met.

Here is salvador sanchez of 2010 (note he even wears the same oldschool 70's ass shorts!):

Schaefer: 4 Million Buys For Mayweather-Mosley Possible

By Ryan Burton

On Wednesday, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told the media that before the record-setting fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather in 2007, he predicted a buyrate number that would break all pay-per-view records - and he was right.

Prior to last year's Mayweather vs. Marquez pay-per-view, the media laughed at
Schaefer when he made a bold buyrate prediction of at least 1 million - and he was right again.

"I am not going to say that we are going to break the all time pay-per-view record. I am not going to say we are going to do 3 million either. 4 million pay-per-view buys are possible," Schaefer said.

Schaefer said Mayweather-Mosley is the most heavily promoted fight in history. Because of all the different media and retail outlets who are involved in the event's promotion, and the fight's presence in movie theatres - Schaefer believes the astronomical number of 4 million is possible.

Klitschko vs Haye is Being Negotiated, Confirms The IBF

By Ruslan Chikov

IBF Chairman Lindsey Tucker confirms that heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko formally notified the sanctioning organization about his intention to fight WBA champion David Haye of England. He told the IBF his team is involved in negotiations with Haye's co-promoter, Sauerland Event and manager Adam Booth.

Because Klitschko is pursuing a unification fight, the IBF tells sportsbox.ru the mandatory defense owed to Alexander Povetkin has been pushed back to a later date. Previously the sanctioning organization ordered Klitschko and Povetkin to reach an agreement by April 26.

"According to our rules, holding a unification fight, as I said earlier, has priority over a mandatory defense," Tucker said
