Displaying two completely different styles, Tyga appears to be right behind Kendrick Lamar when it comes to Los Angeles hip hop. Without a doubt, Game is the leader of this new Los Angeles hip hop scene, but Kendrick Lamar leads in popularity. There are many other rappers emerging, but Tyga currently holds the second position.
The success of Tyga is a testament to the success of Young Money. Lil Wayne has done well with amassing talent from all over the world for his label. Drake is the international representative, hailing from Toronto, while Nicki Minaj holds New York City down. Of course, Tyga holds his position in Los Angeles.
With Drake and Nicki Minaj both three albums deep under Young Money, Tyga is preparing his sophomore album. Hotel California was announced back in December and singles have begun leaking from the project. Tyga recently talked to GoodFella Radio about his album, saying it would have an old school sound from the 80s and 90s hip hop.
