You may have seen the #1 Trending Topic on Twitter right now – Troy Ave supposedly only selling 30 physical copies of his album “Major Without A Deal“. While hilarious, the story is false, as the physical version of the album wasn’t released until this Tuesday, June 9th, and those ’30’ copies represent a few mom & shop stores stocking the album early on Monday and reporting those to Soundscan.
The album was released digitally on Friday, June 5th, in time for Troy’s Hot 97 Summer Jam performance and the numbers released on Soundscan represent 3 days of sales digitally – and none, physically.
Billboard just released an article breaking down the story.
