Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks running back, took a few minutes at a charity event Sunday night to talk about his Fam 1st Family Foundation.
Fam 1st Family Foundation was formed and launched by Joshua Johnson (QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Marshawn Lynch (RB, Seattle Seahawks) who have overcome a significant amount of adversity to become the men they are today.
Prior to becoming NFL athletes giving back to the community and helping underprivileged youth succeed has always been a passion for both Joshua and Marshawn. With the official formation of the foundation in March 2011 they are ready to take those efforts to the next level.
Bridging athleticism with academia will be the framework for serving at-risk youth across diverse populations. Joshua Johnson and Marshawn Lynch will be at the helm of this collaborative effort, to produce the future leaders of tomorrow.
Fam 1st Family Foundation is dedicated to uplifting and empowering youth in the Bay Area and throughout the United States. The foundation’s mission is one of empowerment and education, aiming to build self-esteem and academic learning skills in underprivileged youth. The foundation plans to open a youth center in their native home of Oakland, CA . This center’s programming will include developing workshops for vulnerable communities to promote literacy, athletic training, after school tutoring, art programs, vocational training, a media center, and much more.
