Orlando’s Palmer Reed truly broke onto the scene last year when he took care of hook responsibilities on Baka Boyz “Show Me” single and provided a verse for the Too $hort-assisted effort. The track was able to garner more than 500,000 streams on SoundCloud, helping Reed expand his reach.
Inspired by artists like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Prince, Pharrell, and Kanye, Palmer Reed has worked diligently, utilizing his influences to become an expansive song writer with a great understanding for connecting with the listener. At times the soul of his original lyrics will bring you love, passion, and a head-nod, while his other side will make you think smart. Reed delivers timely lyrics woven between the tip of his tongue while understanding that we face ideologies as we grow into this new phase of life and become challenged by daily social, economic or racial issues just on the heels of the Presidential election.
“Smart” comes produced by Andre and the late Big Makk, who was signed to Mad Decent and was recently tragically killed in a car crash this past August, after he already made an appearance in the new optics. To pay his respect, Palmer Reed dedicates the official Bill Adrium-directed visual to Big Makk’s memory. “Smart” is available for purchase via iTunes.
