Nef the Pharaoh made it on to our Breakout Artists of 2015 list, so it’s only right we shoot an episode of On The Come Up with him. The second episode of the new OTCU season features the Bay Area native who blew up off of a NOLA tribute, “Big Tymin.”
In the episode, Nef takes us through the stages of his career, including his early raps (which he classifies as “bubblegum” rap), how he came up with the name ‘Nef the Pharaoh’ at 14 years of age, and his influences which span all the way from Oakland legends like Mac Dre to lesser-known NYC rapper Scientific.
Nef goes on to discuss how “Big Tymin” was created, getting co-signed by YG and Ty Dolla $ign as well as 2016 goals.
