The West Coast has always been a hotbed for rap, but over the last couple of years, we’ve seen quite a few big names come out of the region. Quite a few of those artists have been linked in some way to DJ Mustard, and his punchy brand of Cali-meets-Bay Area bounce. Jay 305 has been operating within that scene for some time, but a trip to jail meant he missed out on some of the first breaks for the sound.
Since his release, Jay has been stepping up his hustle, and he’s ready to have his time to shine. In our latest edition of On The Come Up, he talks about his early affiliations with Dom Kennedy’s OPM crew, his deal with Interscope, and his desire to work with Future.
He also reveals that he was originally meant to appear on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, but he’s confident the two will link up again later on.
