In the time since his last major release, 2017’s “Top Flight” with LA’s Mann, Melbourne’s Junor has evolved into one of the leading figures in Australian hip-hop. A prominent DJ, media personality and AUD’$ tastemaker, he now returns with another major global link-up via new single & video “Woke Up.”
Originally crafted in an APRA / AMCOS Songhubs writing camp by Junor and legendary Australian hip-hop producer & current Hilltop Hoods producer / drummer Plutonic Lab, “Woke Up” is a dark, moody alternative hip-hop cut combining hard hitting drums with spacey auto-tuned vocals. After collaborating with Chance The Rapper producer Nate Fox on his previous single, Junor stays true to his international connects, calling on close associate Chicago emcee and SAVEMONEY member Brian Fresco for a sharp feature verse.
The track comes with a crisp mobbed out video, shot by frequent collaborator Kitchen Wizards at Junor’s former apartment in the dark streets of North Melbourne, personifying the Sri Lankan / Australian artist’s standing in the Melbourne hip-hop scene with cameos from Lil Jaye & Abraham Poni (66 Records), Kwasi, Willy Beamin & Matthew Craig (RMF).
“Woke Up” commences a long-awaited run of fresh music from the 27-year old, set to be released via a newly inked deal between his independent label R.E.A.L Music and BMG.
