Oakland-based producer/multi-instrumentalist Diamond Ortiz brings you “Zooted,” a fast-paced, dancefloor-friendly jam whose roots come straight from the hard-edged sensibilities of Bay Area funk and Ohio funk, a la Roger Troutman. The single release is available in both vinyl and digital formats. Diamond’s label, MoFunk Records, was founded by Eddy Funkster, one of the resident DJ’s at Dam Funk’s world-renowned Funkmosphere club, and XL Middleton, seasoned funk/g-funk producer. Ortiz himself has worked with a wide variety of artists ranging from Ronnie Hudson to Kurupt & Rappin 4-Tay.
A seasoned multi-instrumentalist, it is Ortiz himself that plays everything on “Zooted,” from its crisp synths to rhythm guitar, bass guitar, and warm vocoder. He is preparing to launch a California mini-tour in the last week of June which will take him from Los Angeles and back to his Bay Area home.
The talents of Diamond Ortiz stretch beyond music into the visual world. He edited his own music video for “Zooted,” featuring classic footage of Bay Area lowrider culture, as well as dancers popping. We hope you would consider adding the song/video to your site and have included it for your consideration.
