The L.A. artist challenges today’s black men to treat black women with the respect they deserve

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 10, 2015)  — L.A. lyricist Melo KAN takes a bold stand for black women in his new YouTube video series titled “Melo KAN Speaks.” In the series premiere, the up and coming artist discusses taboo topics such as abuse, slavery, rape and everything in between while pointing out the struggles “she-roes” like Oprah, Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Fantasia and Maya Angelouendured in their lives.

“As long as I have a voice, as long as I’m breathing, ya’ll are going to see me put [black women] back where they need to be and I challenge all ya’ll to do the same. I stand for this, this is my real existence,” states Melo KAN.

The Los Angeles native challenges all black men, young and old, to remember the value of women and why they need to be treated with more respect as well as understanding why some may behave the way they do. “Don’t kick them while they’re down…call them a hoe, bitch, slut. You see she’s lost…lift her up, be a king, put her back,” Melo challenges.

Melo KAN, best known for his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the song “You Don’t Like,” is currently in the studio prepping his new EP dubbed “Melo KAN Lounge” featuring his recently released singles “Bluez Man” and “Push Thru.”
