It’s refreshing when you get a chance to hear new artist with that classic soul of the 80s 90s era. This particular artist, from Pensacola, Florida ( by way of Stockton California ), has a way of capturing the hearts of her fans through her stunning voice. Her name is LeGree Shine.
LeGree’s music ear came from her legendary Ingram family, watching her uncles Henry Ingram, James Ingram and Phillip Ingram one of the original members of Switch. Music has been in their blood for decades, and with LeGree, strong, yet soulful, singing style, the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Musical influences are big part of what R&B music has become today. 4°, loving songs from Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox, Mariah Carey, and others is when R&B music really had something to say. There are also great gospel influences, like Yolanda Adams, and the Winans, where different elements of her vocal style like harmonizing came from.
Following her first song “He’s For The Streets”, LeGree teams up again with the Los Angeles super producers Local Astronauts on her new single “No Thanks.” This smooth guitar groove and heavy bass is a unique concept which discusses making the correct decision in relationships even though your heart may tell you differently. Ms.Shine’s soulful string vocals compliments the bounce in the record.
In her music career quest, so far she has given us a foundation of the type of R&B music we love. While some artists may get stuck in a time loop, Legree’s sound is nostalgia, but yet refreshing enough to exists in today’s modern music era. Shine On Legree’s, Shine On.
