Born and raised in Atlanta’s notorious section of Kirkwood, 550 is an artist that has 850 for his street credit. “I don’t want to just rap about what I’ve done just to be a typical rapper. I want the youth to see the downside of this street shit,” 550 explains and goes on to continue, “My best friend was shot in the back of the head right in front of me. When I was 17 and my other partner was killed while I was in prison. The only thing the streets give you is death and lost time. Neither one of them you can get back.”
Currently readying the release of his upcoming mixtape Hoodlum, 550 teams up with one of the most brutally honest rappers in the game, Kevin Gates, for “Boss Shit,” produced by Will A Fool. The record finds 550 and Gates trading survival stories from their younger days, ultimately crediting their relentless grind for pulling them out of the streets. This comes on the heels of 550’s release of “80’s Back,” which features his blood cousin Future, and has an accompanying visual expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Contributions to Hoodlum also come from Waka Flocka, Future, Young Scooter, Casino, and more.
