Rapper and actor Ice-T has a reputation of being a tough guy. But as he puts it, he’s really a “player” and viewers of his new talk show with wife, Nicole ‘Coco’ Austin, will get to see just that.
“I can always sharpen up like a steak knife,” said Ice-T.
In promotional clips for ‘Ice and Coco’ premiering Monday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. on FOX, Ice is wearing a suit jacket, shirt and tie.
“There are a lot of facets to Ice-T,” he said. “I never thought in a million years that I’d be doing daytime talk talking to middle class white American housewives.”
For her part, Coco, who is expecting her first child with Ice later this year, says the show will be different from other talk shows.
“You’ll go leaving happy,” said Coco. “It’s like we’re bringing ‘Ice Loves Coco’ on the set. The dogs are a big part of it: Spartacus and Maximus. Anyone from the reality show can pop up.”
The show, which is taping in New York City, will include guests, musical performances and anyone Ice and Coco think are interesting.
“I do this thing on the show called Ice Breakers. I’m trying to find new artists. I’m giving them their shot,” said Ice.
With eight episodes already in the can, the pair believe they have something special on their hands.
“The producers said ‘just go for it…go as hard as you want to go and we’ll reign it back in if it’s a little too much for TV,’ ” said Ice.
