Coming from the small East Bay town of Antioch, Woodie launched East Co-Co Records and a successful independent rap career. Although his music is sometimes overshadowed by his gang affiliation, Woodie was well-respected as a rapper, producer, and hustler who put his friends on and launched several careers. Best known for the “Northern Expozure” compilation series, he managed to use music as a way to escape the gang life that had brought down so many of his close friends. Tragically, Woodie died in 2007 under mysterious circumstances but his legacy lives on. This video breaks down the life and career of the Bay Area underground legend.
