Odell Beckham Jr. has collected another honor. And this one’s a Giant first.
On Wednesday, Big Blue’s star receiver was named the cover boy for EA Sports’ Madden 16, due out this summer. Beckham will be the first Giant to appear on the cover of the storied football video game.
The announcement was made on the 6 p.m. edition of ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” which transformed from a sports news show into hour-long ode to Madden.
“I’m definitely excited,” Beckham said on “SportsCenter.” “I’m definitely honored. It to me is just kind of mind-blowing still, thinking about playing one year of football and (being) given the opportunity to now be on the cover with all these (other NFL stars). I’m kind of at a loss for words.”
Beckham, who is pictured making a one-handed grab similar to the one that made him famous last season, beat out New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski for the honor in a fan vote conducted by EA Sports. Gronkowski, who has openly talked of his desire to make the cover of the video game for several years, congratulated the young Giants receiver.
