If you are familiar with the Central Valley, then you may have heard the smooth poetic rapper “Diego Redd”. The Fresno rapper first appeared on the scene in the late 90’s after briefly being signed to a Def Jam Records. During his tenure on and off the label, he has had his share of major label attention and platinum artist affiliation; including working with producer Scott Storch and artists such as Xzibit and Nate Dogg.
He first showcased all this talent in when he released his debut album; “Living Proof” which featured artists including W.C (of Westside Connection), E-40 & Yukmouth. Since then he has been working even harder and in the fall of 2005 released; “Dog Eat Dog” his sophomore album which includes production from Kanye West [on “The Whole City Behind Us” – he replaces The Game, with Kanye’s approval], Scott Storch, Clark Kent and others as well as Ludacris, Kanye West & 50 Cent as guest appearances. Kanye’s verbal accolade makes an appearance as an album skit. The album encompasses work from the Def Jam era as well as new material from his time with Hecktik and the Rebel Music camp.
Fast forward 2014 Diego Redd has completed a full length movie entitled “99 North A Hip-Hop Musical” with group member and Fresno native “Shake Da Mayor” set for a July, summer release along with the group album which serves as the movie soundtrack. But to hold the fans over until then, he has prepared “Baggage Claim”, his latest body of work featuring Mistah F.A.B., Nio Tha Gift, Planet Asia, Intl Skeam and more. Officially available May 13th, via ITunes, Amazon & Goggle Play.
