Thank you to Detroit’s own/Hip-Hop legend Esham for coming on my show for an interview! Esham discussed his new album Purgatory, how the album is a true reflection of who he is as a person today, and why he opened the album up with Active Shooter. He talked about being independent because no one would give him a major label deal, regretting not speaking up against those who labeled him as a satanist, and the character that he made up of himself for his album Tongues. He got into being stopped on stage during a Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff performance, the rumors of 2Pac riding around playing his album Judgement Day, and being the first Hip-Hop artist to ever release a double album. Esham also spoke about being the innovator of acid rap, moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota to look for Prince before he passed away, and getting an associates degree in culinary arts. Stay tuned!
