Former NBA Basketball Cleveland Cavalier and spoken word artist Daniel “Booby” Gibson recently performed at the Urban Network Digital “Back 2 Basics” Music and Entertainment Conference on June 5th and is all set to lend a hand to Trevor Ariza in the Houston Rocket player’s new non-profit event, the Ariza Elevated Game Awards and the BETX Sprite Celebrity Basketball Game.
Earlier this year, Gibson released his current spoken word music video—“Suicide” featuring himself and his son DJ. The former NBA player and spoken word artist released the moving piece in a response to the current debate on the violent interaction that has taken place between police and U.S. citizens. Gibson also performed at this year’s past MWSXSW. His next video—“Racks”—will be released this July!
Trevor Ariza created the non-profit Trevor Ariza Elevated Game Awards to reward high school students who have overcome tough obstacles in their lives and found escape in the sports they play.
