The reshuffling of the radio world continues, as Emmis Communications, who owns Los Angeles’ Power 106, is reportedly suing on-air personality Big Boy for breach of contract. According to All Access Media, Big Boy received and accepted an offer from iHeartMedia and planned to leave Power 106 for the Clear Channel station when his contract officially ended on February 28.
The lawsuit claims that Emmis has the right to match any offer made to Big Boy within 60 days of him accepting, which they reportedly did when they were made aware of the iHeartMedia deal. The claim states that even though Emmis matched the offer, Big Boy still accepted the deal from iHeartMedia, which Emmis claims he is not legally allowed to do within the details of their contract.
The lawsuit is reportedly looking for both monetary damages from Big Boy, but also continued injunctions to prevent him from leaving Emmis for iHeartMedia at any time. During Big Boy’s scheduled show this morning, the station only played music with no DJ present on the air, according to TMZ.
