Erez Safar, known in the music world as simply Diwon, is back with his hottest project yet. The latest brings together 80s synths and his signature layered beats. With the new sound comes a new name and universe; going by h2the, the producer behind Bonhom, Dreams in Static, Tyrone Gosling and more brings the beats and pieces to life through dynamic cinema 4d and motion graphic videos which have amassed a dedicated following on his Instagram (@h2the).
For h2the’s first release he drops a beat tape that is literally only available on cassette. Forcing fans to get out of their comfort zones, digest the music, and work a bit more heavily seems to be his brand’s raison d’être. In order for people other than analog enthusiasts to hear it, there is a digital-only teaser of the mixtape, which is its own release and is not simply a few moments from the mixtape. The teaser, called “Taste Of The” will be available on Spotify, Apple Music on Nov 16th, 2017.
Taste Of The will premiere live in NYC at a warehouse music, art and fashion party and on h2the’s FANTASMA show which airs weekly on DASH Radio. The full beat tape, running 20 minutes per side, with a limited run of 250 signed and numbered solid yellow cassettes, is available only on h2the’s site (www.h2the.com) and Bancs (www.shopbancs.com).
h2the recently took home the grand prize for his remix of Jack Antonoff’s band Bleachers single “Don’t Take the Music.” (Listen | Watch)
URB magazine wrote that “Safar is something else… in a profound kind of way,” calling his sound titillating and “juicy for the ears,” while The Village Voice described his productions as “adventurous and banging.” 2DOPEBOYZ and Vibe magazine’s allhiphop.com have also noted h2the’s rap flips of 80s-inspired sonics.
h2the will be performing and speaking at the EMERGE IMPACT + MUSIC CONFERENCE in Las Vegas, a first-of-its-kind event bringing together the best in new music and thought. The three-day showcase of new artists and ideas also welcomes Britt Daniel (lead singer of Spoon) and The Killers to its expert curation team along with punk icon Henry Rollins and Imagine Dragons as speakers. EMERGE “features a mash-up of energetic performances by emerging artists with socially-conscious sessions hosted by influential thinkers.” h2the will be performing and speaking over the weekend, alongside acts like Billie Eilish, Kaskade and K. Flay. Tickets are available at the Emerge Impact + Music Conference Website, wwwemergelv.com
