50 Cent Says Eminem Is The Reason Hip Hop Is Now Pop

50 Cent spoke on Eminem’s influence on the music industry and explained that he thinks the Detroit rapper has had more of an impact on Hip Hop culture than people realize. According to Fif, Eminem’s combination of talent and songwriting ability helped transformed the genre into Pop.

Fif spoke on Eminem’s ability to transform battle rap into a structured song. “I think the best rappers are like battling each other. They come up with the wittiest lines- coolest ways to insult a person you ever heard in your life. But they can’t write a song to save they life. It’s not a lot of those artists that get into the song writing and move those talents over. Em is one of the guys from that platform that made it to that point. He’s that strong of a writer,” Fif told HardKnock.tv.

Fif added that Eminem’s talent has helped turn Hip Hop into Pop music. “He means more to music culture than people give him credit for. Because Hip Hop culture is a black art form, it’s a black music. When they have a figure or you have someone that’s from a different ethnicity come in and he does it as well, if not better than everybody in it—it loses its color. And that’s why Hip Hop music is now Pop music…You gotta be careful or you’ll get your ass handed to you on a track man. He’ll get to you,” said Fif.

Fif also explained that all he’s looking for in music is authenticity. “Anything that offers reasoning for it to accept everything into the actual culture is cool. I don’t like when you fronting, I don’t like when you writing about something that you not, that’s not you. That’s not creative to me. It’s not what Hip Hop is. Whatever your experiences are, the rough spots that you hit, if you didn’t have a rough spot write the good stuff,” said Fif.
