Rising West Coast rapper 03 Greedo‘s career came to a halt in June 2018, when he was sentenced to a two-decade prison sentence on charges of drug possession and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. However, the rapper can see the light of day fairly soon.
Information from the rapper, born Jason Jamal Jackson’s inmate entry on the Texas Department of Criminal Justice website declares he is eligible for parole starting on September 19, 2020, a far cry from his original release date of May 31, 2038. Greedo caught the attention of many this year with The Wolf of Wall Street project, as well as co-signs from Freddie Gibbs, Pnb Rock and Rich The Kid. While his troll-like behavior towards J.Cole and the late Tupac Shakur made him a bit of a villain, it was his 2016 arrest in Amarillo, Texas that put him on an unwanted radar with the police.
The then 28-year-old along with Justin Scott, 26, were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and theft after a traffic stop revealed $80,000 worth of meth and two stolen guns.
Before turning himself in, Greedo released his 27-track album God Level with features from Lil’ Uzi Vert, Rich The Kid, Yhung T.O., Key! and Yung Bans.
Like many rappers that came before him, Greedo isn’t letting his current incarceration slow down his rap career. He dropped the video-game inspired “Fornite” video in July which has gone on to garner 700,000 views.
