I was at DelTaco over a week ago. My wife and I were in line waiting to order. There were two or three people in front of us in order, and I specifically noticed two people use their credit cards (they dont have a debit card feature, only credit card, so you have to use your debit card as a credit card) without showing ID. Sure enough, my wife (Black girl, which is relevant in the context of this story) used our card, and bam, the lady asks, "can I see some ID". I didnt act really mad at the time, but i was pretty irritated. So I called and talked to the manager, to ask if they have a numbering system, to select people to ask for ID. The manager said they are supposed to ask everyone using debit/ credit cards for ID.

My question for you is, would you be upset? I am still fuming, many days later. I guess this maybe one of those instances of racism in the structured or institutional sense. Or, I am a sensitive mo fo, that takes things to heart too much.

shit like this happens all the time to me........the only thing i can do is
a.)spit in their face and cuss them out, and look like a fool in public.
b.)forget about it, because that person isn't worth your time & whatever you gotta say will go through one ear & out the other.
c.)ignore it and roll a fatty.

this lady at the register was being all nice & corteous to the two customers, waiting in line, infront of me and when it was my turn, she flipped the script and was rude as fuck(she saw the brown skin and put on her hockey mask). I just stood there thinking "this lady is a BITCH" but shit i just let it go and moved on w/ my life. Bitches and pricks like that ain't even worth my 2 cents....

i have a shit load of stories but stuff like racism and prejudice bastards are never going to go away, so you just got to ignore it& let it go and adjust to this fucked up world.

put to answer your question......YES i would get mad.......but let it go 'cause he'she ain't worth it.....

They're Del Taco employees.

Whatever you are / were doing, they are working at Del Taco.

That is punishment enough in itself.

If you feel like giving them an extra boost of encouragement, you could go in and make a scene. That's not my style though. Especially against Del Taco employees.

I would have shown the person my I.D., and after I'd shown the person my I.D. I would have explained the situation to the worker (the situation being you asked for my I.D. but you did not ask others for their I.D.), after this I would have taken the persons name, contacted the manager, and contacted the corporate office. All of this would have been done in a nice and pleasent tone or a distraught and "this is so horrible I can't believe this happened/I'll never eat again" type of tone. Also, I would remind every person in key positions (corporate office, managers, P.R.) that the internet would be used as a prime source for telling the world about such harsh treatment.

I can GURANTEE you you'll recieve an apology and FREE goods. The downside? The person may be fired. Yes, they were wrong and commited an injustice against you, but can you let it go? Maybe you'll be blessed in teh end. Think about it.

^^it is though

my girl is black (half black) and she gets the same treatment, man. its not cool. shit happens ALL the time. I get fuckin pissed.

the other day, we went to an italian restuarante.. we got seated.. waited 10 minutes, no one approached us. thats when we noticed a rich white couple get seated. no longer than 2 minutes, a waiter was there to take their orders. we waited A HALF FUCKING HOUR. no one approached us. so I told my girl to wait in the car, and I fuckin went OFF on the manager. I was so mad, I was shaking. he got apologetic REAL quick. Im pretty sure I got someone fired.

heh, nah.. this wasn't the reservation taking type place. and there werent that many people in there, so a reservation wouldn't have been necessary.

Fuck yea you should be mad!

The best way to deal with something like that is to address the situation on the spot by talking with a manager above the person and also explaining to the manager the reason why this happened *racism*.

When you talked to the manager, did you mention that both of the other customers were white and your wife was black? Did you mention you felt she was carded due to racism?

Like I said I think the time to make a maximum impact in this case has passed but you definitely did the right thing by calling and should follow up with a letter to the local Del Taco and the corporate office. They will probly right you an apology and send you some Del Taco dollars or something. I doubt anyone will be fired because even though what they did is against the law you didnt point them out on sight or get a name/badge number, something like that.

But that shit is definitely fucked up and yes you should be fuming.

Regarding Psycho Logics situation, I agree there was probly racism involved, but anyone else notice resturant service just aint what it used to be? Maybe Im trippin but everytime Ive eaten out in the last 6 months one of the following has happened:
-taken more than 20 minutes to get seated when its not that crowded
-gotten seated in a shitty section (ie in a dark corner when there is window tables avaliable)
-taken more than 10 minutes to get my drinks.
-seated without menus, silverware on the table.
-taken over a hour to get food after ordering

I know resturant service can be a difficult job but sometimes its ridiculous how slow and bad the service is when they expect to pay you good money. Ive walked out of two resturants in the past 6 months and just said fuck it, didnt wait for the meal and didnt pay for the drinks.

This is the basic principal of common respect for one another and seeing past outer appearances. The cashier was wrong no matter how you put it. whether you are at the most fancy restaurant or the dinky fast food place you always deserve respect from any establishment where you are paying money for their services.

I think you have something to be annoyed about but honestly they aren't worth your time...I mean, contacting the manager and higher-ups like Heresy said isn't a bad idea...But in the end, is it worth your time to get that person fired when they probably aren't going to be doing shit with their life?

I've had this problem...But I'm white...People just see that I'm tan or have a different complexion than most white people and act like I'm some complete asshole because of it. I've had people ask me if I'm 1/2 black and white, 1/2 mexican and white, puerto rican, spanish, pakistani, all sorts of shit....Most of those people weren't doing it to offend me though, which brings me back to my original point....This employee, probably isn't the brightest crayon in the box and probably isn't that well educated, hense working at a Taco place. Although ignorant people are annoying, the best way to deal with that I've found is by talking to them, and if they don't care, fuck them cause you're life is still yours and their opinion isn't shit, neither is anyone else's.

The latter, bro. People are fuckin' crybabies nowdays, get some thicker skin. Racism is real, but damn, why is everyone so touchy, maybe they had a certain procedure to follow.
