if any of the top ten mma fighters were to meet mayweather in the streets it would be a wrap for mayweather hands down. if you had to follow the rules of boxing, yeah of course he'd probably win, but as an overall fighter he would get crippled.
In the streets means anything goes. Jumping, weapons, nut shots whatever. A street fight is unpredictable .. unless you meant met him in the streets and they happened to agree to fight under MMA rules.

MMA was invented as a professional league for martial artists. Think about it. If you wrestled in high school or college or did karate, whats next?...Desk Job. Whereas if you boxed or played football...there is a logical transition already built in. college (amature level), then pro. So its not a black and white thing, more like somebody capitalizing on an opportunity to create a niche.

Besides, the race thing doesn't hold any weight if you look at the history of boxing.

what do you mean by this exactly? African americans have always dominated boxing, unless you go way back when blacks weren't allowed title shots.

Only recently there has been a decline in african american dominance in boxing because a lack of african american boxers in general (most kids these days will play football or basketball, not boxing...there aren't nearly as many boxing programs and gyms as there used to be, etc.).

An MMA fight is much closer to a street fight than a boxing match is so MMA fighters would be much better prepared for a street fight than a boxer would be.

An MMA fighter can always take a boxer down where he has the advantage, but a boxer cannot stand an MMA guy back up where he has the advantage so the boxer is at a distinct disadvantage.

WEC 135lbs champ Miguel Torres calls out Mayweather

“I would love to fight Mayweather, just because of the simple fact that I think he’s a cocky asshole … I’m not a white person, and I will smash his ass. I don’t care. His style of boxing is all built on getting people in the clinch. He’ll hit them, and then he’ll get in the clinch with them. Then the referee breaks them, and he’ll hit them and grab them again. I think it’s a great strategy. It’s not clean boxing, but it’s smart boxing. He’s going to hit somebody and grab them in MMA, and he’ll be done for. They’ll take him down. That’ll be all. I’ll be on top of the list to fight him.”

I dont understand why people have these stupid arguments.

In boxing Mayweather will own most MMA fighters.

In MMA Mayweather would get owned by most MMA fighters.

It's like comparing Rugby to US Football, similiar yes but 2 completly different sports.

In a street fight the MMA fighter would probably win if he could get Mayweather on the ground. But that's a big "IF", because boxers have the advantage in hand speed, timing, and reflexes. And don't forget, since it's a street fight there are no gloves (advantage: boxer). So how would that MMA fighter get to Mayweather to grab and wrestle without taking punches to the face? All it'll take is one good shot and it's over for the MMA fighter. Mayweather would let off hella punches. I'd put my money on Mayweather.

What are you talking about? First of all how is no gloves an advantage to a boxer? MMA fighters train with 16oz, fight in 4oz gloves and a lot fighters have a background of bareknuckle vale tude/NHB fighting. Second how the fuck do you stop a single or double leg with punches? Have you ever trained before? If you have you'd know you would get dumped on your dome so fast by a wrestler it isn't even funny. Also the way boxers stand is a huge advantage for a wrestler making a single leg a joke.

Have you ever seen a pure boxer fight a kick boxer?? leg kicks keep boxers off balance like crazy.

edit heres a video

Because a guy boxes means he's never trained in anything else at all?

That's Manny Pacquiao posing before a muay thai fight.

People need to realize that MMA is governed by a set of rules. There's no stand ups, time out for recovery after fouls .. anything at all can happen. Until there's a study out there where they pit 100 boxers against 100 mixed martial artists in completely different environments, under different state of minds (intoxicated, sober, enraged) and every now and then one sneaks the other, then no one can say for 100% certainty what would happen most of the time.

MMA was so much better when there wasnt really any rules, anyone watch that top 100 fights countdown of UFC. That shit was bullshit, where were the tank and Belfort knockouts, where was Tito vs. Frank Shamrock? Im so sick of this MMA craze right now, i watch all the ppv's but Boxing is just so much better of a sport

I think MMA fighters are good "well rounded fighters". But if you go for a take down, like a double leg or single.. and in the streets, no rules.. someone is gonna elbow the back of your head/neck.
---------------------------------------

I've seen street fights where muthafuckaz are throwing punches like crazy.. and most of the time.. the one not punching gets knocked out...

but if you are trained, you'll let that guy where himself out and then play that game.

Plus, all the fights I've seen have never been 1 on 1.
