Great song by the way, and even better video, great imagery of Memphis.

Clearly this is a sample, does anybody know? If you have the album, it probably says in the liner notes.

Willie Hutch "Theme From The Mack"

I think the song sucks and the video sucks too.

And how is it great imagery of Memphis?it was shot in Miami.

Three 6 don't shoot videos in Memphis.

They sampled Stay Fly from Willie Hutch's "Tell me Why our love turned cold" So your saying "Poppin my Collar" was sampled from Willie also? What song?

To THaG everyone samples, stuff you probably didn't even know has been sampled. They don't make the beats up themselves, its little pieces of this and that mixed together. I've been listening to a lot of old soul and funk from 60's and 70's and always run across shit sometimes just a 5 second piece from one song is made into an entire beat by a rapper or the whole song is a parody of the melody or almost word for word you'd be suprised what your favorite artist is lacking in originality.

What the last guy said.

Give me a list of your favorite 100 songs and I bet 25% of it minimum is sampled. I've got about 1000 samples now in my collection, and half the time, the old song is even better than the rap version.

I'm surprised they shot that in Miami, are you sure about that man?

that's the first i've heard about three 6 shooting their videos in miami, but it doesn't surprise me.. memphis heads are always down on three 6 since they've ripped off so many of the other memphis cats they've worked with over the years. people say they don't have respect for memphis/its artists/whatever. i don't know how much of that is true, but it's what a lot of people say.

as far as sampling, three 6 can keep doing whatever they want as far as i'm concerned.. the new soul sound is nice, though i do like the early, gritty, horror-movie-sampling tracks a bit more.

so you don't like soul songs. They are some of the best classics from the past. they laid the foundation. What else would they sample from? Besides soul (R&B), funk, jazz and blues anything else would be gay.

I don't listen to soul, but I don't hate it

I hate the way they started sampling it in the last few years

that's gay

they used to sample soul songs in the mid 90s too but it was tight then

it just depends on how it's done and who does it

3-6 have been sampling old soul for years, especially Willie Hutch...matter of fact, they did a song with him !

75% of Hip Hop music is sampled or interpolated.

Its not gonna stop...its how Hip Hop started.

They sampled in the early 80's all the way up til now not just early 90's, see you didn't even know stuff you been listenen to was sampled. Almost every beat produced is sampled from some old song, soul or not the bassline and beat patterns that are built in the production machines follow patterns from original songs and beats. here is a good site for sample info http://www.the-breaks.com/index.php it just a little bit of samples from what people have submitted, but believe most everything else you hear is from somewhere else beats, horns, organs, all pieced together.

OK, why don't you just read carefully what I said???

I know very well that 90% of the songs are sampled

What I said was that the way they sample now is gay

and you keep on posting how everything was sampled from the beginning of rap

The discussion on sampling is cool but not what I want. I want to know what the specific sample is, so if somebody who has this album wouldn't mind looking in their album book I would appreciate that greatly.

Okay I guess i don't get what you mean by the way they sample now compared to then? and why its gay now? But oh well it doesn't matter that's what they're gonna do.

ThaG is saying their samples sucks now..not using samples sucks
Its not about sampling or not sampling... everyone does some sampling ...

And I agree Three 6 is getting more and more wack each year.
2001-2005 shit has been weak.

DJ Paul & Juicy J use to be a lot better with those samples even when they were stealing beats from DJ Spanish Fly,DJ Zirk, and DJ Squeeky back in day...

Basically ThaG is saying they need to get back to making quality tracks like they use....not try being some wack Kanye West style sampling with old shit..
three 6 has sampled old shit in the pass and not made it wack...
but now it sounds wack thats what I think thaG is trying to tell ya'll

are you ThaG's official spokesperson?

most underground memphis tapes from mid-early 90's use old school samples, that makes a huge part of the memphis sound :chinese:
