I try to post some hip hop but it doesnt recieve a lot of love tho -> http://siccness.net/vb/showthread.php?t=390119

Some people just don't like the word hip hop, because I think they don't notice theirs actually difference between hip hop and rap.
i just listened to Backboards and Brooklyknight. i take it this guy is hip hop, and not rap, in your eyes. all i hear is a dude rappin over a beat. thats hip hop. thats all that makes it hip hop. aint no instruments he usin or words he sayin make it more hip hop than C-Bo - Freetsyle. ya dudes just influenced by certain artists and producers. thats all. ya dude aint rappin over a disco loop like Sugahill or rappin over live original instrumental disco like Fatback. alot of cats think rap music with no bad boy talk over strings and horns (jazzy shit) is "authentic" hip hop. Jazzy shit was the biggest in very late 80's and 90's. it had its time. and its still can be raw. but that shit dont make it authentic. hip hop recordings didnt start in the late 80's.

these bitches got more in common with original hip hop than the jazzy 90's. these bitches are rappin that "me, me, me" shit. over dance music. and using electronic musical equipment. the only shit they do thats "hip hoppy" is rap their lyrics. they're infuenced by different shit that made them be the artists they are. they dont want to be a rapper when they grow up so they dont have to over-emphasize on the "hip hop" influence, being rap, in their act. they dont stick to labels. all the cats out there that actually do want to be rappers when they grow up have to market their shit and know their audience. by what ever they want to call it or not call it, its all marketing. and its all just influence. its all rappin.

What's the point of this thread? So do u want backpack to be mainstream? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose?
Backpack rap has always been under the radar. There was a stronge surge from oh 94 to like 98. But that's it.
Lyrical rap is always there u just need to find it.
Damn I don't get it, i don't know if some of you guys don't like reading or are slow. I was just saying >>>"The Hip Hop Forum"<<< is not all that "hip-hop", but has all these mainstream artists instead. I was hoping the mods would just create a new forum called "Trendy Hip-Hop/Rap or Mainstream Hip-Hop Rap", Thats all. No I would not want real Hip-Hop/Rap on the radio unless it doesn't get played out like a million times.

Thank You Northbay 415, I'm glad someone speaks my language.

what kind of retarded shit is that? this is just a forum where people can post threads about any rap/hip hop they like. it's not just for "actual hip hop"

if you want more threads on "actual hip hop" threads, make them. the problem is nobody is making threads for what I believe you consider to be "actual hip hop." therefore, if this forum was only for "actual hip hop," it would be completely dead, pointless, and irrelevant.

i have posted hip hop threads for 15 years on the siccness. every thread i make gets 1 reply and falls to the bottom. nobody gives a fuck about hip hop on this site. im fine with that.

never stopped me from posting it though. over time i had an influence on people and they relied on me for what the latest hip hop was. there was a group of probably 15-20 of us who talked nothing but hip hop when this forum was created. you just cant force it. post shit up and the people who are interested will read it. i personally just dont care enough to post things anymore.

some of the best underground hiphop albums i have heard in years are coming out right now. i have a bunch of stuff i want to talk about. if i saw a thread about the new reks and staik, i self divine, pep love, OC, luckyiam, etc. i would post in it. those threads dont exist. i come in here and see a bunch of shit i could care less about and move on. instead of complaining about the lack of hiphop threads....make hip hop threads.

I understand your frustration in that you want alt hip hop posted in the hip hop forum but you gotta understand there is a clear middleground in hip hop now, half way between alt/backpack/purist/boombap hip hop and mainstream/gangsta/commerical hip hop. That's the shit that most of the sicc heads who aren't just into trap rap are into, and I'm with that movement because at least sonically and sometimes theme wise that shit is more progressive and open than "actual hip hop" and the same can be said if you put it up against commercial hip hop. So hey, thats the movement. But in the end its all hip hop.

The thing is who is to say what is real hip-hop and what isn't? Did I miss a committee that was formed and they give it a stamp of approval? I think that's the point a few people in here are trying to make.

Why are you so interested in what others listen to? Keep bumping your shit and keep it moving, there's nothing wrong with making a thread showcasing your type of hip hop, just don't let it get out of hand like that redundant lyrical ice age shit.

I can clearly hear a lot of differences between C-Bo and Sene, but I make it easier, their is a difference between a rap and hip hop song. poetic/conscious lyrics, subjects, sound and the fact that most hip hop artist consider their music as art are the main differences.

I have heard all off C-Bo's music and I can say he never made a hip hop song. And if you would ask C-Bo himself than I'm pretty sure he would tell you that he makes Gangsta Rap, not Hip Hop.

Dont get me wrong there is nothing bad about being a rapper, I like rap as much as hip hop but to say their isn't a difference, than in my opinion you must be blind and deaf because its actually really easy to find out.
