Mom jailed after daughter, 6, interviewed
A 28-year-old mother of four was behind bars today after her 6-year-old daughter inadvertently alerted police to her alleged drug dealing, Milwaukee Police Capt. Darlene Jenkins said today.
According to Jenkins, officers interviewed the child Friday after her 22-year-old father called police to report his daughter had been struck with a curling iron in the face while visiting her mother on Wednesday.
During the interview, the girl told police her mother chops up a white substance and puts it in bags, then takes the girl and her sister to alleys where people give her money for the bags.
Police confiscated 55 bags of cocaine worth $20 each in a search of her home in the 3200 block of S. 11th St. She is in custody on pending charges of child abuse and possession of cocaine with the intent to sell.
