Bumping T.O.N.Y after reading this lack of respect lol

When I first got into hip hop as a kid I took a very conscious effort to research where it all started from, to get a better understanding.
Same here. I started researching some artists that weren't played on TV/radio via Ice-T's cd booklets lol (this was before most people had internet in the 90's). Once internet came into the picture, I had a pretty impressive collection of old school hip-hop from early 80's-early 90's, some of it extremely rare. This is how I was able to significantly expand my taste in the genre. Obviously these kids nowadays are not attached to the history the same way because as you said what matters to them is the contemporary shit only, which is fine and all, but don't get mad when we call your music wack.
