I dont understand why almost everyone in this tv/movie forum hates so hard unless the movie is Moon.
I completely agree. I don't know if "fashionable" is the correct word, but it seems like some people hate (and trash) movies like it's fucking cool. It's especially curious when you consider some of these movies are widely regarded as being great films. My advice to you is to disregard such criticism, otherwise you'll find yourself skipping over some good movies.

I would hate to have such a lack of taste for movies.

One thing is certain, if you open a thread and trash the movie, you're likely to get some free props (usually from the same people).

:x

I just come in here and drop my opinions on films, like it or not. I thought last year was pretty damn weak as far as film quality goes and I think there has been a sharp decline in quality overall in Hollywood over the last few years in general. I'm not going to lower the bar of my expectations as a result and if a movie sucks I'm going to say it sucks. I don't know why people get so offended if my opinion of, say, Star Trek, differs from popular opinion. Likewise if I think Bronson was a fucking badass movie when most people thought it wasn't that great, oh well, it's my opinion and I'm a pink commie bastard so fuck off. :)

I hope Makaveli knows I was playing with him. Anyway, it seems there are about 5-6 posters with a differing aesthetic, just like coming from different schools of philosophy, you put importance in different things...but you don't need to bash the other schools of thought.

I don't know that this acurately reflects anyone in this forum, and in my opinion, represents more of a straw man fallacy than anything else. Those who are "anti-that" are no better than those who follow the norm. Just as those who claim every movie is awesome are no better than those who claim every movie is terrible.

20sixx I would probably say that, in terms of Hollywood movies; they haven't really been on the decline, but the percentage of shitty movies has increased dramatically....When I say shitty, I mean movies that 'stick to the script' of a typical Hollywood movie. Movies with little-to-no creativity. The one that really bothers me is movies where basically nothing happens; just a buncha scenes that add nothing to the storyline. Maybe it's just me but I've seen a lot of those the past few months.

The ratio of those shitty films compared to creative films has at least doubled the last couple of years...So I would definitely agree if that's sorta what you mean..

I don't like alot of contemporary hollywood movies, and it's not because everyone isn't wearing black, and that there aren't any subtitles, or there isn't any French, or that there isn't any weird non-dialogue scenes you cant understand, but really because you can tell it's people who don't know shit about film making movies, plus they're too predictable.

I went to go see this lastnight. I had some expectations, and they never really got met. But Hopkins was pretty good in this movie.
