Comedy about Psychic Soldiers with Clooney, Spacey, McGregor, and The Dude...

http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/the-men-who-stare-at-goats/trailer

In this quirky dark comedy inspired by a real life story you will hardly believe is actually true, astonishing revelations about a top-secret wing of the U.S. military come to light when a reporter encounters an enigmatic Special Forces operator on a mind-boggling mission. Reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. According to Cassady, the New Earth Army is changing the way wars are fought. A legion of “Warrior Monks” with unparalleled psychic powers can read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it. Now, the program’s founder, Bill Django (Jeff Bridges), has gone missing and Cassady’s mission is to find him. Intrigued by his new acquaintance’s far-fetched stories, Bob impulsively decides to accompany him on the search. When the pair tracks Django to a clandestine training camp run by renegade psychic Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey), the reporter is trapped in the middle of a grudge match between the forces of Django’s New Earth Army and Hooper’s personal militia of super soldiers. In order to survive this wild adventure, Bob will have to outwit an enemy he never thought possible. The Men Who Stare at Goats was inspired by Jon Ronson’s non-fiction bestseller of the same name, an eye-opening and often hilarious exploration of the government’s attempts to harness paranormal abilities to combat its enemies.

The book is one of my favorties but I didn't even know they were making a movie until I saw the preview on TV yesterday. Strong cast but I've never heard of the director. The trailer looks pretty good so I'll be sure to check this out at some point.

^^^ Yeah, that's what I got from the trailer as well. It really didn't show a lot so it's kind of up in the air.

You should read the book Jesse. It's very interesting and funny as hell in some parts.

From reading the synopsis about the movie it seems to only be vaguely based on the book though.

And that's what I prefer in most cases. The chances that if they take an idea and turn it into a good movie are higher than if they try to turn the whole book 1:1 into a good movie.

This movie looks good/funny to me. I don't have too many friends who share the same taste in movies such as this but I'm looking forward to seeing it. Might just drag my girl out to see it.

Anybody else watch this? Thinking about renting it and don't want to waste my time if it sucked. I know not all people appreciate movies that don't have a ton of action or comedy.

The Men Who Stare At Goats.

Interesting.
^^What you think about it? I saw it and can barely remember it.
It was...interesting. I never read the book, so i might not have the best view on it.
Saw it last weekend. Interesting. I recommend watching it.
I know some movies are best watched to appreciate them but......care to expand?
