The Known Universe takes viewers from the Himalayas through our atmosphere and the inky black of space to the afterglow of the Big Bang. Every star, planet, and quasar seen in the film is possible because of the world's most complete four-dimensional map of the universe, the Digital Universe Atlas that is maintained and updated by astrophysicists at the American Museum of Natural History. The new film, created by the Museum, is part of an exhibition, Visions of the Cosmos: From the Milky Ocean to an Evolving Universe, at the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan through May 2010.

Humans are a disease of this Earth. We have the potential to keep ecological equilibrium, but "choose" to overpopulate and pollute. In my opinion, pro-choice is a selfish way of saying we actually mean something in the grand scheme of this universe. If I believed in God, I would say he created us to destroy this Earth. But like any disease, we will run our course and be forgotten amongst the darkness of the cosmos - that of which have been around farrr longer than our selfish species.

One sentence negates the other. I don't understand how one can be a "disease" for choosing to overpopulate and then be called selfish for terminating a pregnancy. I suppose instead of being pro-choice we should just kill women after they've given birth. Yes?

Then of course, if overpopulation is such a problem then how can we not mean "something" in the grand scheme of the universe? If it didn't mean much to the universe, then you couldn't really "overpopulate". Everything means at least a little bit to the universe, and you can show evidence of that with overpopulation as the example.

People don't think much of an ant or even just a molecule of water. That molecule doesn't really mean shit to OUR "universe", but if you "overpopulate" our atmosphere with water molecules... we'll drown. "Overpopulation" and "universes" are just man made ideas in the first place. What is a "universe" to a flea or a simple cell?

It's not "real talk"... It's a bunch of nonsense disguised as intellect.

lol@dude's chonies in a bunch because someone said "real talk" referring to what I typed. At first I thought maybe you have a valid point, but then I realized you're just misinterpreted what I'm typing.
I didn't say we are a disease BECAUSE we choose to overpopulate I just stated that humans are a disease. Name one other species or LIVING ORGANISM that negatively affects our planet as much as humans do. You don't understand the consequences that come with over-population? An overpopulation of ants isn't going to put pressure on the economy of the world(which has an effect on EVERYBODY)....only human overpopulation could do that.

An overpopulation of anything can entirely fuck up an ecosystem. A spike in insects, results in a loss of plant life, which results in a loss of oxygen and an increase in carbon dioxide.

I blame China... And Canada.

I have to be honest... The interest in "space" is lost on me. That video.. as nice as it may look, just doesn't mean shit to me.

Besides, if you speed that video up and add a bag of marbles at the end you've got the ending sequence to Men In Black.
