I'm a huge fan of Darren Aronofsky. I think he's one of the most talented directors on earth. However I didn't like the Fountain at all. The visuals were amazing, amongst some other things, but ah shit it just wasn't pieced together right in a way that was possible to follow. I remember there being several parts to the film and it was difficult to put them all together. I think Aronofsky was attempted something extremely deep and he should get kudos for the effort but it's just not something that could work on film. I think you need to be on on some serious drugs to like this movie and to make your own sense out of it.

The movie is purposely open to interpretation and imo, too much so. It's one of those movies where it ends and your like "wtf was that?"

Have you watched it fucked up? I bet that would help a lot. I remember being on x and listening to some andre nickatina songs and the lyrics finally made perfect sense lol it was like blindfolds were removed from my eyes. "oh shit, he's talking about a Pirate stealing the booty! arrrh makes perfect sense matey!"
Just like the pirate that sailed the seas
13 thieves I do believe
Yes of course they run with me
Flash our rings, or that there freak

When your sober, you're like WTF is this guy talking about??! Fucked up though, shit was GENIUS

My tip would be, watch it off a couple of grams of mushroom stems. You will have the altered perception without the hallucinations of the caps. I still haven't seen this film, will probably do it later today or within the week and give my input. Pi was a hyphy movie.

I don't think Donnie Darko is meant to be fully understood. It's some fucked up shit the director did I think to make the movie seem more intelligent than it actually was.

I really, really want to rank that movie highly but I cannot for that reason. It had potential to be an all time great film but intentionally not making sense sorta ruins it for me. I've read so many opinions and shit on that movie but nothign is true.

Pi is one of my all time favorite movies and obvious Requiem for a Dream is a masterpiece as well. I just don't think the Fountain can touch either of those films.

Aronofsky is a great director and I like all his movies except The Fountain. I've only seen it once though, but I didn't really have the urge to watch it again. Pi is great and seems underrated to me.
