Fuck the NFL

They allow Cam Newton to take about 5 shots directly to the head in their season opening Thursday night prime time superbowl rematch yet they're so much about player safety you can't practice too hard? lol

As long as it's huge ratings they don't give a shit if the players are fighting and targeting each other's heads (see Beckam vs Norman last year), receiving concussions and brushing aside injury protocol (see Edelman seahawks Patriots superbowl or cam Newton wk1 or dozens more examples) or going into the back after a possible life altering leg injury and shooting it up with Toradol and Marcaine and chewing down a handful of Percocet then running back out there high ; don't care at all.

It's so transparent how they tack on these violations like this or tack on little fines afte the games, if TSA is security theatre then nfl is safety theatre

Seems like the NFL has been selective on which QBs they want to protect. Obviously with Cam there was a lot of attention with those head shots. Saw this on Reddit today with the Rams going after Wilson's injured leg, driving him into the turf, helmet to helmet/leading with helmet hit, intentional or not this post makes a strong case they were illegal hits:

Here are 4 illegal hits on Wilson while he was in the pocket that should have been flagged that were not : Seahawks

The first one I don't think was a penalty but the other three were pretty blatant imo and if those were against Payten Manning or Tom Brady those would be flagged guaranteed.

Only that 4th one is legit illegal. On that 3rd one, you expect a 280 pound man to pull up in that situation? All his momentum is going forward.

Agreed. 1 and 2 looked totally fine to me and I am obviously a Seahawks homer.

3 was questionable because it looked like he may have tried to drive him into the ground - but inconclusive based on the 1 angle.

Of the 4 only #4 looked like a penalty was warranted.

#3 would have been a penalty 100℅ if that was Payten Manning or someone like that. #2 is a penalty under the rules in place by the NFL, regardless if it's stupid or not. Personally, I don't like any of the pussy rules when it comes to protecting QBs and no contact with WRs, I've said that for years that they are headed the direction of the NBA pussifying defense. but if they are going be there, they should at the very least be consistent, that's all we can ask for as fans in regards to the rules. Same goes for Cam the other week and I hate that guy. The refs are all over the place when it comes to penalties which makes fans question the legitimacy of how these games are called.

Wait, they actually plan on using Jimmy Graham? Bevel finally be like, oh yeah we have this super expensive and talented giant TE, I should probably incorporate him into the offense, brilliant!

The defense has obviously been doing their job keeping the opponents scores down, but it does seem like forever that they've forced multiple turnovers in a game. I don't even remember the last Sherman INT, not really his fault though since barely anyone throws at him and when they do its almost always quick short passes. He should start wearing Carey Williams old jersey.

Speaking of Sherm, good article he wrote:
