the Royce Vs D12,Eminem beef started.

Eminem

It began with rumors, but once the diss tracks started, it seemed to be official. Royce and Eminem used to be good friends and both complimented each other's rapping style, however their friendship seemed to grow smaller and smaller as Eminem's name grew bigger and bigger.

It is difficult to see why there would even be beef between Royce and Eminem, because before all the fame (when you can see who your true friends are) Royce always had Eminem's back and visa versa. There was even a time when Eminem wasn't even talking with his own group D-12 and Royce was the only one he had and the person who told Eminem to sign D-12 in the beginning. It's clear that Royce and Eminem were real close, but slowly began to lose that friendship as Eminem's fame increased.

Things began to get shady for Royce when Eminem and Royce recorded the track "Renegades" originally supposed to be on Royce's debut album "Rock City". Interscope did not clear the track to be on Royce's album, so Royce and Eminem worked on a new single called "Rock City" which cost Royce's label a fortune. Both the single and the album didn't get anywhere due to lack of promotion and internet bootleging. Soon after Eminem called Royce and asked permission for Jay-Z to write over Royce's verse on the track "Renegade" which was to be released on Jay-Z's album "The Blueprint".

The beef really began when Royce handed Eminem a freestyle for the "Anger Management" Mixtape. In the beginning of the freestyle Royce said "Fuck Anger Management, I need to hire somebody to manage my anger." Eminem and D-12 seemed to take this as a diss, however Royce did not intend this at all. When Royce learned that Eminem was upset at this, he tried to call Eminem to squash the beef. Royce talked to Eminem's Manager and he told Royce that Eminem said he did not want to talk to him anymore. Royce felt that D-12 may have influenced Eminem on this decision because it did not sound like the Eminem he knew.

Royce feels that as true friends, he and Eminem should be able to squash this beef, however that part is on Eminem and until then Royce and Eminem are not speaking.

"And for the record, I do think Em is a better rapper then me, but he ain't writing no record about me, because regardless of what goes down, trust me, Em knows what I am capable of lyrically." - Royce Da 5'9"

.: D-12

Similar to the beef with Eminem, Royce's beef with D-12 really heated up after the "Anger Management" Mixtape incident. After the incident, Bizarre 2-wayed Royce, acting like nothing was wrong, so Royce told Bizarre to stop contacting him if there is beef floating around. Bizarre (being an "Instigator") went and showed the other members of D-12 what Royce said. The next day Royce did an online interview where Royce responded to the question "who do you think is ruining rap?" with the answer being D-12. Royce even admitted that he shouldn't have said that, he was just angry with this current beef and understood why D-12 would be upset about what he said.

After this, Royce's Manager talked to Proof and Proof said the group really didn't care because D-12 doesn't even think there is going to be another D-12 album. Denaun (Kon Artis) also contacted Royce, telling him he too thought the beef was stupid and that things should be cool.

However after all this talk, D-12 was at 50 Cent's release party passing out CD's containing Royce disses. This is what caused Royce to make the D-12 disses "Malcolm X" and "What We Do".

More specifically it looks like Royce has his own personal beef with Proof and Bizarre (you can check up on those below).

Proof

Royce and Proof used to be friends, but things started changing when Royce accidentally let a line about Bugz slip on the radio during a Bizarre diss track. Again, Royce apologized to Proof saying he seriously did not mean for that line to air and also that the Bizarre diss was written 3 years ago, which he wrote because he thought Bizarre was dissing him on a local mixtape during the time when they really had beef.

Soon after, Royce got a voicemail from Proof, with Proof cocking a gun and talking shit to Royce. This might be why Royce specifically talks about Proof in the diss track "Malcolm X".

Bizarre

Simply all the beef with D-12 didn't help Royce's friendship with Bizarre. Bizarre had helped instigate Royce's beef with D-12 by making it known that he and Royce had beef. The reason this even happened was because Bizarre 2-wayed Royce messing with him acting like there was nothing wrong after Eminem's Manager told Royce Eminem's done talking to him.

It appears that Royce never had a steady friendship with Bizarre, due to the fact that Royce used a diss track that he wrote for Bizarre 3 years ago, which shows they clearly have been beefing in the past.

Goon Squad

Goon Squad, the same group that rushed Everlast in Detroit, attacked Royce and D-Elite while performing on stage celebrating Royce's birthday in St. Andrews. With the bouncers losing control of the fight, some of Royce's crew was hospitalized. Even though this brawl happened on July 6, 2002 which was earlier than the recent D-12 beef, it is interesting to know that Proof (from D-12) used to be part of the Goon Squad.
