sup fellas, I have a question bout the first MC Ren CD

I just realized before puttin it on my blog that I have a different version

Kizz My Black Azz is not written on the front cover and on the spine it's MC Ren - MC Ren instead of MC Ren - Kizz My Black Azz

The ringcode differs slightly from the other version

CPCD ***** RE1 S2612F 1-1-3 53802 CAPITOL JAX 5 C

MY CD
CPCD 53803 RE1 S2612F 1-1-7 CAPITOL JAX 1C

year, tracklist, label... are the same and it's not a clean version

Someone has already seen the version I have? any infos?

Thx

there was a time when that album sold for a lot of money on ebay, then it was re-released and prices came down. maybe the one you have is the one that was rare and out of print. i'm just guessing though...

It's not a later re-release. I bought the regular MC Ren version with the EP title on the cover just a few weeks after it was released. It's been re-released later with additional tracks or a video if I remember it correctly

The catalog # on yours is (PCDS 53803) which means it was pressed after the OG release with the catalog # (PCDS 53802).
Do you think so? I'd just say that the number indicates that they are two different issues. they are catalog numbers on the spine and cover. they could've been pressed at the same time. Or maybe the did a new batch without the "azz" printed on the cover. Wasn't there some kind of controversy with this MC ren release?

I think cashflow is right, I was going to post the samething then I read his response. The catolog number is pretty indicitive of the order of release for different versions of cds.

If you check both discs you'll see that both have ring codes CDCD 53803, not 53802 and 53802. Even though they have different catalog numbers. Yes, increasing catalog numbers indicate most likely the order of the releases, but why have two different covers with different catalog numbers, different printing on the disc BUT identical ring codes?

The MC Ren only version gotta be due to some issues with the title since the final track Kizz My Black Azz has been edited to Kizz My. Deep in the back of my head something tells me that there were some controversy surrounding both the title and some of the lyrics on this EP. Don't remember the details but this EP is one hella classic disc. One of the most underrated rappers ever.
