you can convert avi files into mp4 video files there's many programs for that or you can play the avi files also on the ps3 depending on the specs of the video
yeah I watch avi files on my PS3 all the time. Usually what I do is download and share the files from my PC, or just copy them onto my PS3 from my computer. I've also burnt them on DVD's which works fine as well.
Sometimes they don't work though which I think it may have to do with a currupted file or perhaps it was encoded incorrectly.
..... ps3 video 9 works ok but its slow, wat u should do is d/l a program called tversity i use that and it plays all my avi,mp3 files etc. and if it doesn't play my video files i convert them wit ps3 video 9 and then add them to my tversity library. u also need the latest version of windows media player. just google tversity its free 2 d/l. i find this works best 4 media sharing between ur comp an ps3
^^^ how do you media share with a ps3 cuz i have a viao and i want to stream shit straight to my ps3 but i dont know what i have to do... what hardware i need like a router or whatever.. my pc is DLNA certified
first get the latest version of windows media player. then open windows media player and click on library at the top bar (its in between now playing, and rip) after clicking on library u will see an option that says media sharing u should b able 2 see ur ps3 or 360 or anything else u have networked 2 ur comp click allow sharing and apply. u should then b stream anything from ur windows media player library on ur ps3. but depending on wat operating system u hav u may also need 2 run tversity wit windows media player
i just go on wmp and press share media with my ps3 and added all of my documents to my library then just go on ps3 and search for media stream things at the top and when it finds it just go back and it will show up there on the media i have a wireless connection though
ive been trying and i have a sony vaio laptop with DLNA and i cant seem to figure it out.... could it be becuase i have the ps3 connect with an ethernet cable and not through wifi?
Fuck it. I just put the video as is on my USB flash drive, plugged it in to the PS3, hit "options (triangle)" once it was recognised, chose "dsiplay all files", and BOOM...there it was. Pressed play, and off it went!
