I don't think you understand what MVP actually means. If Chris Johnson was the league's MOST VALUABLE PLAYER, his team wouldn't have been 8-8 and wouldn't have missed the playoffs. His VALUE is lower than that of Peyton Manning. His 2,000 yards didn't lead his team to 14 straight wins and the #1 seed in the playoffs, Peyton Manning's performance did. End of discussion.

Or maybe Chris Johnson was the league's Most Valuable Player and without him his team would have been 2-14, while the Colts without Manning would have been 10-6.

The MVP is definitely record biased. In almost all sports it rarely goes to a player on a mediocre or bad team which would have been much worse without the player; but rather tends to go to a really good team which would have still been good without the MVP.

It seems as it just goes to the main spotlight player of the leauge.. I agree it shouldnt be based off that it should be based off a difference maker player.

Yeah exaclty.

Despite the name, the MVP has never been the Most Valuable Player to a team.

In that case, it would always be a great player on a mediocre team which would be be horrible without the player. That is the most valuable player, however it rarely if ever is.
