no, its still legal. they just did away with the unregulated gambling part of it. basically when law enforcement goes into a pit, if they see people in the stands waving money around they can shut the pit down instantly. so now all pits are banning side bets.

cops have never given us a hard time in louisiana, in fact they usually take a seat and watch a few fights with us before leaving

Personally, I don't feel its the same (other than the basic level of pitting animal vs animal).

But, were not talking parakeets here - no one is putting domestic birds against each other. I have yet to see Zacky Farms package a cockatoo or seen a Kentucky Fried Cardinals.

I just don't see the parallel to dogfighting as a strong one.

in louisiana, its a mix. you got paisas, mexican americans (like myself), white folk, black folk, hawaiians, philiinos (SP?), cajuns.

believe it or not i find the people of Louisiana to be very helpful and just outright nice.
