work of an artest...
Ron Artest circus three-pointer with one second left in regulation sent this game to overtime and a Jamaal Tinsley trey with 10 seconds left in the extra session gave the Pacers a 114-109 win in Seattle. Jermaine O'Neal scored a season-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Al Harrington scored 26 off the bench and Tinsley finished with 11 points and nine assists.
Neither Artest's shot nor Tinsley's shot displayed textbook form, but both went in to help the Pacers avoid losing consecutive games for the first time this season.
Artest had one leg up in the air and Seattle guard Brent Barry hanging off his left arm on his game-tying shot, while Tinsley's 3-pointer looked like more like he was shoving the ball toward the basket with two hands as he frantically tried to beat the shot clock.
j-mane scored a season-high 30
Tinsley hit all three of his 3-pointers, with his last one providing a 114-109 lead with 10 seconds left. Artest's shot spoiled a fantastic performance by SuperSonics guard Gary Payton in the final minutes of regulation.
Payton scored a season-high 40 points, including Seattle's final six in regulation on three superb shots. He made a pair of lefthanded drives past Artest for layups to give the Sonics a 100-99 lead, then spun past Al Harrington and floated a shot over Jermaine O'Neal that rolled around the rim before dropping to put Seattle up by three points with 4.4 seconds left.
Payton's display set up Artest's desperation heave. He drew a foul from Barry on the play but missed the free throw, setting up overtime.
Seattle opened the game with an 11-0 run and led by as many as 14 points. But it did not lead in overtime and lost for the seventh time in nine games.
