to me its easy as fuck to fight from the outside....just figure out your guys reach, back up and use a right hand body punch, you know if you hit him cuz you see sweat and hear it...do that twice then change up to a left body hit, throw a few face punches to make em cover up, weave/back up so he dosent counter and repeat process..you can fight the whole match just giving outside punches to the stomach and backing off to let your stamina build back up

once you get the hang of it you double up on the body punches a little. but thats how i won alot of my fights, fighting smart on the outside with small jabs and body shots. every once in a whiele id catch dude offguard and knock him out. usually if i get a guy to go down he dosent get up at all cuz i hit his ass 3 times on his way down lmao

at the end of it i started learnign how to throw quick jabs then go back to the body. the uppercuts and hooks were when i was close in, my dude had a short reach, i played as my height/reight/size, meaning some dudes were just fucking giants and i had to fight smart.

throwing hella punches was dangerous as hell with my character, the body shots and jabs were my friends..i kinda wanna rent it again right now...

the most challenging aspect about this game for me was thinking about it like a boxer. like if hes throwing a right hand jab that leaved me open to step and right hook. i think after you think about it for a while you do those decisions naturally.

fun game tho i know id murder people online

i won a match all 10's fighting outside from the body

It's easier to close of the ring on this game then it was in the past. It's much harder to fight effectively from the outside.

To counter a guy that jabs all day you can either bob & weave under the jab (time it right) and follow up with a hook/uppercut. Do that a few times successfully and they will change their style pretty quick.

Side step - again time it just right so that right when they throw the jab you side step making them miss with lateral movement, follow up with a jab/straight of your own for a quick/easy counter.

Or simply just press/chase them. Stay on them as much as you can and try to cut of the ring by using lateral movement.
thanks for the tips! I bob, weave, duck and dodge a fair bit so if this version its easier to close them off, it should be fun.

Also, can you somehow record one of your fights and post it up on the sicc? that would be sweet.

yeah I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to play with TPC. Buttons are kinda whack imo. Plus, the new TPC system is much better than the previous versions, combo's are so easy to get off especially now that body shots don't require a modifier.

Gas One I wish you had PS3 so we could play. It sounds like you play/think like a real boxer which is what I try to do, that makes for much more of a real sim.

^^agree to all the above quotes.
Before the demo came out and i heard talk of EA removing the buttons my 1st impression was "how the fuck they gonna pull that off?" I had tried playin with the sticks in round 3 after hearing about it and it needed hella work/improvement.

But when the demo hit i was surprised how much faster the game reacted to the controls.

Bought the game and it was game OVER. lol. I love using the sticks. Took some practice but i got it down. I wasnt sittin there bitchin about it i worked on it. Pretty glad i did. The shit just runs smoother. I feel like i got more control with the sticks than any buttons could provide.

FUCK i need my shit fixed!!

And is there an advantage to fighting against the ropes?

what do you mean by it's impossible to dodge a punch?

1). Bob & weave. Do you know how to do this? U use the left stick to bob & weave (half circles - down to forward or up to forward). This will dodge any head shot coming your way.

2). Side step/back step. Any punch, head or body, can be effectively dodged by tapping the stick up/down or left/right.

3). Simple head movement can dodge punches. Remember with fight night 4 it's all about timing so it takes more precision timing to slip punches. On previous versions of FN, if someone threw a head shot all you had to do was simply be in the crouch position and the head shots would always go over your head. Now on fight night 4, this isn't the case because just like in real life if I'm just about to throw a head shot and you duck your head low, my fist is going to follow your head, not go directly above it. So it's more realistic this way. At the same time this means it's harder to slip punches. You have to time it right.

I'll try to upload a few video clips this week that you can use as examples.

I'll kick yo ass with or without buttons.

Why don't u just learn TPC? I bet once you get good at it you wont want to go back to buttons
I've been learning it.... still can't throw the uppercut when I want to. I always throw a body punch when I am trying to throw the uppercut.

We'll see what happens when they release the buttons. I might just box with you online before they do.

this is frustrating too, trying to throw and uppercut counter and it comes out a body shot
