Rigondeaux is two years older than Donaire. His amateur and Olympic boxing record is 400-12. He's one of the greatest amateurs of all time, winning two Gold Medals which would have been three if he didn't defect. He's fought every style there is to fight, even beat all of his Cuban teammates including Gamboa who he beat several times. I don't think people truly understand his greatness. His record and accomplishments are phenomenal. His skill set is undoubtedly better than Donaire, however Donaire is more explosive and has more power.

Obviously Donaire is much more accomplished as a Pro, but if we just look at the skills of the two fighters Rigo is the more skilled fighter. That doesn't mean he will win of course because Donaire is a tough puzzle to solve for a 5'4 fighter whose chin may not be able to withstand Donaires strength.

Freddie Roach on Rigo:

" Rigondeaux's one of
the best fighters I’ve ever trained
technique-wise. He’s very skillful, he’s a
great counterpuncher, and I think those
two guys together would be a great fight.
Working the mitts and stuff, when I’m
trying to get shots in and show him his
mistakes, seeing the openings and so
forth, he’s the only fighter in the world that
I’ve never hit once. I’ve never caught him.
One time I was going to go to the body
after a right hand and he stuck his elbow
in there and bruised my arm for a month.
I’ve never got to him in like six months of
training,” declared Roach."

It's good that he tries though. I'm convinced that most trainers never bother to teach this. It pisses me off to see a dude throw his right hand and drop his left and it's becoming more and more and more common. Punchers from the hip are becoming more common too like Pacquiao, Khan, and Martinez. I think there is something to getting more snap on your punches doing this but you shouldn't drop your hand you're not throwing with to do it

Donarie better Ko Rigo or look great against him. He has HBO hyping him up his Lampely's new girlfriend. He better put on a great show. Rigo chin is still a ? to me, but he does have some real boxing skills. Should be a great fight.

I put $200 on Donaire at 5dimes about a week or two ago at around 2-1.

Here is an article snippet regarding the odds dated two days ago:

Donaire at around -250 with
Rigondeaux fetching a modest +180 quote. It’s as if
the wise guys like Rigondeaux, when a PFP guy
like Donaire is barely a 2-1 favorite against his 11-fight opponent.

While getting Donaire at -250 is the cheapest we’ve
seen the “Filipino Flash” going off at for years, this
is a tough fight.

I think Rigo will do his best to make it boring which will cause Donaire to take a lot of chances. If Rigo can avoid huge shots, I like him to land some great power punches but I honestly don't think he has the power to stop Donaire so he'll catch up to him later in the fight. Between Rigo and Diaz, I'd think they have put a decent plan together for the fight.
