NFL | To end $100 million in revenue sharing
Mon, 07 Dec 2009 07:39:48 -0800

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN, reports the NFL has notified the players' union that effective in March, owners will pull the plug on the $100 million-per-year revenue-sharing program that has subsidized lower-revenue clubs, according to multiple sources. By Tuesday, Dec. 8, the NFL Players Association will challenge the move with an NFL arbitrator, claiming owners can't terminate the revenue-sharing model without the union's approval because it was adopted into the 2006 labor agreement, which doesn't expire until March 2011.

This is a big deal if goes through.

looks like they want to be like MLB all of a sudden...which is fuckin' a dumb move on their part.

off subject...but has anyone else noticed how its the usual suspects who are in on Roy Halladay this offseason (Yanks, Sox, Phillies, Angels, Dodgers)?

Well...at least we got a cup before they pulled revenue sharing. They must have forgot that in the late 90s-early 2000s, NOBODY watched the NHL, and only by putting in a cap did they make it competitive/fun/interesting again.

No fucking way the Pens can afford to keep Malkin and Crosby on the same team without a salary cap. Let's just hope they're smart enough to keep Malkin and not Crosby.
