It's gonna happen. The lockout needs to end by the 15th to avoid canceling the first week of preason games. canceling that would cost the league over 200 million. no way they give that up just to fight over how many max years for a rookie contract.
lol missed one, this makes 20 arrests total, holy shit
Bengals' Adam 'Pacman' Jones arrested at downtown bar
Cornerback denies any wrong-doing 7:44 PM, Jul. 10, 2011
For the second time since signing with the Bengals, Adam “Pacman” Jones has been involved in an incident with Cincinnati police.
The Bengals cornerback was arrested outside of the Scene Ultra Lounge bar at 2:35 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Walnut Street on one count each disorderly conduct (while intoxicated) and resisting arrest.
Peter Schaffer, Jones’ agent, said that Jones was out celebrating his wife’s birthday with neighbors when another female threw a punch at Jones’ wife.
Schaffer said that Jones walked up to police and said that he wanted to file charges.
According to accounts from other witnesses, Schaffer said Jones became upset as the woman was walking away and police became more concerned about him.
After Jones uttered a couple of profanities at officers, police arrested Jones.
On the public-intoxication charge, Schaffer said that Jones volunteered to take a breathalyzer and that one was not given.
“He did not do anything wrong. For him to go through this is a shame. He’s doing the right thing by not taking the law in his own hands,” Schaffer said. “Adam has done a great job of changing his image and turning his whole life around. We will explore every possible legal action to make sure the right thing occurs.”
Schaffer did not rule out looking at legal action against police.
Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said the team had no comment about the incident and that they would let the judicial process play out.
Because of the lockout, the Bengals cannot have any contact with Jones regarding the incident. Even with a lockout in place, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has said that the personal conduct policy still applies, which means based on prior history that Jones could be facing a suspension once the lockout is lifted if found guilty.
Jones, 27, of Atlanta also denied any wrongdoing. He told WCPO-TV outside the Hamilton County Justice Center there was no reason he was locked up.
“It’s ridiculous. … It don’t make no sense,” he said.
Jones said he has freedom of speech and can say whatever he wants to say. He denied yelling profanities. He referred to his neck brace (from a football injury) and said because of a surgery, it doesn’t make sense for him to resist arrest. He is wearing a brace in his jail mug shot.
“(The) only thing I can do is be me and do what I’m supposed to do. But I was not yelling at the police. I was not yell(ing) profanity at the police. And at the end of the day … I’m the bad guy,” he said.
Jones said via Twitter that he wasn’t drunk.
“I have a right to my opinion and the bad part I don’t (drink),” he tweeted.
Jones also tweeted he “can’t even take my girl out for her birthday.”
Cincinnati police were working a detail at 639 Walnut St. when they responded inside for a report of a fight.
Police said Jones was disorderly and shouting profanities. He was escorted outside and asked to calm down but continued being disruptive. He yelled profanities and alarmed others, police said. Police told Jones he was under arrest but he resisted, tightening his arms and pulling away.
Jones signed a two-year contract with the Bengals on May 10, 2010. He previously had been suspended multiple times by Goodell for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, including the entire 2007 season.
Since entering the league as a first-round pick with the Tennessee Titans in 2005, Jones has been questioned, named or arrested in connection with at least 14 off-field incidents. Among the charges were assault, felony vandalism, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Following a Bengals loss against Tampa Bay last Oct. 10, Jones was handcuffed and detained near Great American Ballpark Ball Park after a traffic incident and a case of mistaken identity.
A day later, Cincinnati then-Police Chief Tom Streicher apologized to Jones after a communication breakdown between the officers involved.
This past season, Jones appeared in five games before suffering a herniated disc during the fourth quarter of an Oct. 24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He had 13 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries, including one that was returned for a touchdown.
Due to the injury, Jones had neck surgery and was in a hard neck brace until late April, when he switched to a soft one. Jones is wearing a neck brace from the football injury in his jail mug shot.
Jones was cleared in late April to resume working out and participated in the team’s player-organized workouts last month in Mason and at the University of Cincinnati.
Jones was released Sunday from the Hamilton County Justice Center.
He will be arraigned Monday in Hamilton County Municipal Court.
