I can't speak on his music because I haven't heard it but you are right about the "hood rapper" not understanding these things. But you know what? It also extends to regular rappers or people who don't know anything about the technical aspect music. There was an artist, I'm not going to say the artists name, but he had me mix a record, it was on the radio, everyone heard it. He wanted the shit pinned to the red, squashed to death, no dynamics whatsoever. I told him I would give him two versions, one at like -0.2db and one with a bit of headroom so the radio stations wouldn't have to run the limiter too hard. The radio chose the version with headroom.

I'm assuming by squashed you mean that boomy, distorts at high level sound. I didnt know radio stations had to run or do anything to songs they play. Except maybe some type of normalizer.

I mean that and I mean two other things. Squashed meaning it's "pumping" (sounds like the volume is going up and down real quick) and squashed meaning everything is at the same volume and there are no dynamics (dynamics meaning quiet sections, loud sections, sounds fading out.)

And yes, radio stations run the tracks through limiters (and other things) 99.9% of the time.

I got the cookie crumbz and syrup stainz when it dropped. Track 6 Everybody my favorite. Mozzy only on 3-4 songs of the 11, but Celly Ru and E Mozzy have some of the best bars I've heard from their other songs with Mozzy or their own solo albums.
