Mayweather's got the edge in defensive skills, and youth...I think they are about equal in speed, and that's due to the fact that Floyd hardly ever throws more than one or two punches at a time. He uses his foot speed to maneuver around the ring very well though.

Mosley's got the edge in size, strength, and experience. What I mean by experience is that he's been in the ring with elite competition his whole career, and with all different types of styles of fighters.

The X Factor in this fight, IMO is Naazim Richardson. Great game planner, and motivator. His dialogue with his fighter in between rounds in the corner is just golden. One of the best there is.

I'm going with Sugar Shane with an ugly decision in this fight, I think Floyd will have to throw more to avoid being out worked on the scorecards and in the process will open up and get hit more than we've ever seen.

Yeah man, Floyd is in for a very tough fight. Style wise Mosely is going to give him problems. I think Floyd will still win though.

I don't like Mosley's long ass layoff, it will be 17 months or something like that by the time he steps in the ring with Mayweather. That's too long for a guy who will be almost 39 years old on fight night.

Mayweather should win this pretty easily. Shane will have his moments but mayweathers too slick and will box from the outside all night long. Cotto out-boxed mosley, floyd can too.

Naaaa man, I don't think Floyd should win this fight easily. Shane is the better combination puncher and will have something waiting for Mayweather when he fires his right hand leads. Very tough fight for Floyd in my opinion.

Shane doesnt have/throw combos like he use to. Mayweather is gonna pick him apart with easy. The 2002 version of Sugar Shane might have had a good chance against Mayweather but not the present version.

dana said earlier today he's still panning on doing the may 1st date. maybe he was bullshitting idk

Cagewriter has the story on Yahoo.com:

After plenty of speculation that the UFC may bail from its May 1 date for UFC 113, the promotion has decided to push the event back a week. The reason? It's all but a certainty that Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley will meet in Las Vegas on May 1. The UFC does not want to go head-to-head against a powerhouse boxing pay-per-view.

This afternoon, a UFC source told Cagewriter that UFC 113 was headed for May 8. This evening UFC president Dana White confirmed the date change. The switch was made possible when the Bell Centre was able to move a May 8 concert.

"We were trying to not go the same night as boxing but these [expletive] guys can't get out of their own way," White told Cagewriter. "I have never seen anything so unorganized, selfish and dysfunctional as boxing. It's a joke!"

Smart move dana, smart move lol

Saw this article on boxingtalk.com. Guess theres a lot of speculation that Golden Boy execs are acting in the best interests of Mayweather as opposed to all other fighters. They say Berto was probably paid to withdraw from the fight so that a Mosley/Mayweather can be made and Mayweather can save face after ducking Pacquiao. Berto should have also had first crack at a rescheduled date but it does not seem to have happened. Also Mosley should be having a tuneup fight before fighting a fighter of Mayweathers caliber and his advisors didnt schedule one.

BOXING IS A COLD BUSINESS: WHAT BETTER THAN A DOUBLE FLEECING TO KEEP US WARM THIS WINTER?
By G. Leon

Yesterday when I speculated on undefeated WBC champion Andre Berto being bought out of his career high payday against Shane Mosley, perhaps too much credit was given to those who handle Berto's best interest. Unlike Dan Rafael, no source needed to tell me about any postponement or rescheduling clauses being in a contract, because as somebody who has seen more than a few hundred of them, they are standard operating procedure. Everybody who knows anything about the business of boxing will tell you that. Unfortunately, the overwhelming population of boxers are clueless when it comes to the contents of their contracts.

Although Andre Berto has yet to return our calls, Boxingtalk presumes that he still wants to face Sugar Shane Mosley in the very near future. If Berto is able to compete during the specified time period-which usually range from 60 to 90 days-of a postponement, it would be in his best interest to exercise that option.

Once he does, chances are he would either receive a large step aside fee, or the winner of Mayweather-Mosley, a small fee, a combination of both, SOMETHING.

As of now Berto has received no such consideration, as his trainer so eloquently aritculated to me earlier this morning as he cussed me to the ground for making that suggestion.

Throughout this entire mess, one thing has become resoundingly clear. Al Haymon and Richard Schaefer are very, very cozy these days, which should make a lot of people in boxing, including their athletes, very afraid. On the flip side of Berto is Shane Mosley, who has been fighting on HBO before Berto's balls dropped, receiving no last minute replacement to shake off some of the rust that comes with being off for a year. A year off, through no fault of his own, following a masterful performance.

Perhaps Mosley was expected to be so pleased with the Mayweather fight becoming a realistic possibility that he'd reply with a 'yes massa, thank you" while Schaefer dilligently works to make the Mayweather fight.

It's clear to me that Haymon's business revolves around Mayweather. Unlike most of his clients Haymon takes no fee from Mayweather. Perhaps using his name to sign lesser fighters is enough of fee in and of itself, but it's no accident that Haymon hasn't moved Paul Williams, who can make welterweight, lower than middleweight since Floyd's return.

Knowing Haymon, chances are he hasn't explained or mentioned any potential rescheduling clauses to Berto in order to ensure that Mayweather-Mosley comes off free of complications.

God knows what kind of discussions Sir Vrichard Schaefer and Haymon have behind closed doors, but it's clear Mayweather's best interest takes precedence over everybody else, including Shane Mosley's.

I find it hard to believe that Golden Boy Promotions, the company that got Victor Ortiz right back on HBO against Antonio Diaz immediately following his tapout, cannot get Shane Mosley on HBO against a lesser opponent than Berto to shake the rust off and feel sharper going into a fight with Mayweather.

After all, it's Mosley not Mayweather who is a 'partner' to the company.

Shouldn't Sir Vrichard and the rest of the Team Golden want Mosley to be at his best for that fight? Don't they want him to have every advantage? Do they want him to win?

Or do they prefer to give Mayweather every advantage, while Mosley goes along with all of the random testing Mayweather desires? Could that possibly be the case due to certain hopes that "USADA" Mayweather outpoints a rusty Mosley, forcing Pacquiao to follow suit if he wants to give boxing its biggest fight?

The Golden CEO got unusually upset with me earlier when I posed some of these questions to him and wound up hanging up on me. Nobody likes being asked questions they don't want to or can't answer.

Bottom line, Shane Mosley should still be fighting on January 30 and if Mayweather and Mosley fight in May, Andre Berto should receive substantial consideration to void the rescheduling and postponement clauses he probably knows nothing about.

Needless to say our next interviews with Shane Mosley and Andre Berto are going to be must read material

Good article by G.Leon.

Shane should have taken a tune up fight on the 30th. He'd still have enough time to get ready for a May 1st date, and would know where he was to a point physically in the ring. Now he will have been off for almost a year and a half, and even though the guy is a gym rat...he is pushing 40 years old.

Wondering why there hasn't been an official announcement for the Mayweather-Mosley fight yet? Even with Mosley not taking a tuneup, looks like Fraud is figuring out a way to try and duck Mosley....again. Theres still time for him to grow some balls, but I'm not holding my breath.

http://www.examiner.com/x-5699-Boxi...lks-at-Mosley-Arum-drafting-MargaritoPacquiao

A solid source inside Team Floyd Mayweather has just informed me that Money May is balking at fighting Sugar Shane Mosley and that is the reason for the holdup on the announcement of a May 1 or a May 8 bout between the two American ring stars.

“Floyd did the math and Floyd is saying, why should I take a potentially difficult bout against Mosley for $10 million or less when I get $40 million or more to fight Manny Pacquiao and that could be an easier fight to win,” the in the know person said Saturday night.

The source said that a heavy internal discussion and debate is going on in the Mayweather camp as to whether Floyd’s best bet might to be stay on the sidelines and let Pacman get past Joshua Clottey on March 13. Then the Mayweather camp could try to restart the previously failed negotiations to make the Mayweather-Pacquiao mega bout.

(See Rick Rockwell, who is son angry with "Duckweather" that he might give Floyd the infamous, painful Fritz Von Erich Claw Hold.)

“Mosley does ok, just ok, on the PPV against Mayweather,” an HBO source said. “Whereas, Manny and Floyd can break all the records and do something approaching three million buys on PPV. Upside on Manny and Floyd, which is the hottest attraction to the public, is unbelievable while upside of Shane and Floyd is limited.”

Meanwhile, the always cagey Pacman promoter Bob Arum is already making his contingency plans beyond the March 13 Clottey bout at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington where reportedly 20,000 tickets were sold on the first day of general ticket sales (Saturday).

Someone familiar with Arum’s thinking and strategy said the head of Top Rank is making moves to line returning from suspension Mexican Antonio Margarito a viable post-Clottey foe for Pacman.

“Margarito will begin training on Monday in Oxnard, CA., with his new trainer, former world champion Robert Garcia. Garcia is headed back from the Philippines where his world champ Brian Viloria lost his title in Manila,” this source said.

Margarito will fight some “tomato can” opponent on the Clottey-Pacquiao undercard, his first fight since losing to Mosley last Jan. 24 in Los Angeles.

“Arum figures all is forgiven by the public once Margarito is back in the win column. Then in the wake of having 40,000, maybe 50,000 in the Cowboys Stadium for Manny against Clottey, he sells Jerry Jones a second Manny bout, a natural against the Mexican Margarito. That fills up Manny’s fistic calendar for 2010 and Floyd and Manny is bigget than ever for 2011,” this insider said.

“If nothing else, Arum will shrewdly use Margarito-Pacquiao as a diversion to get Mayweather to agree to less money, less drug testing, less everything so he can cash in against Manny,” the insider said.

In the meantime, should Manny-Floyd come to fruition, Arum can pacifty Margarito with a still red hot all Latin revenge bout, Miguel Cotto against Margarito.
