HARARE, July 19 (Xinhua) -- More senior officials of the world's football governing body FIFA are heading for Zimbabwe this week in an ongoing international relations exercise for Zimbabwean football ahead of the confirmed visit by the sport's supremo Sepp Blatter before the 2010 World Cup.

Only last week, FIFA's manager of the artificial turf program, Nigel Fletcher, and his companion Chris Fortuin from the body's headquarters in Switzerland graced the country, according to The Sunday Mail.

The two were inspecting the pitch at Rufaro Stadium where Fifa supplied funds for the installation of artificial turf that has changed the face of the country's most historic and popular football facility.

Another top FIFA official Urs Kluser who is the director of development, will arrive in Harare on Wednesday accompanied by the development manager, Eva Pasquier to conduct the Leadership Retreat and General Secretary (GS) Mentoring Program, which is set for Victoria Falls from Thursday to Sunday.

The hectic schedule will involve all the ZIFA board members, led by their president Wellington Nyatanga, while the GS Mentoring Program is particularly designed for the chief executive officer, Henrietta Rushwaya, to equip her with Fifa-standard administrative skills.

Rushwaya confirmed the visit by the FIFA authorities and said she suspected Zimbabwe had been chosen for the program because of Blatter's impending touchdown in Harare.

According to a letter the international body sent to ZIFA, the upcoming Victoria Falls indaba arose after a FIFA Member Association and Development Seminar which took place in late March in Gaborone, Botswana. ZIFA representatives attended at the invitation of Ashford Mamelodi, FIFA 's development officer for Southern Africa.

The international football governing body also outlined the objectives of the GS Mentoring Program, namely to ensure in particular that a new (chief executive) is fully cognisant of the role of an effective secretariat and the need to partner with the policy-making level of the member association.

It also seeks to ensure (she) is aware of all stakeholders of ZIFA and how best to collaborate with those organisations.

The ZIFA CEO is looking forward to the seminar, which she believes will capacitate her in the treacherous exercise of administering the country's favourite sport.
