LOL......Canelo Alvarez ain't big enough for you yet?

He is huge already.
Yeah he is huge...but with no merit...if he were to have had the luck of fighting Paul Williams, Julio Chavez Jr and now Austin Trout and went through ALL of them the September date with Floyd Mayweather would have been gigantic and with no questions.

Yeah right. Floyd will fight Manny like AP9 bumped Coco
Lol...what so special about Manny Pacquiao that ANYONE should avoid him...what has he shown that he needs to be avoided? He got knocked out by a guy 6 years his senior in the Juan Marquez fight. No hall of fame fighter has EVER gotten beat by a fighter 6 years his elder at the age of 40...but Paquiao. 42 rounds of futility against a man Floyd Mayweather wiped his ass with...and now is looking to do 12 more!!

I really liked Winky, but should he really be in the hall of fame? Does every single lineal champ make the hall these days? His biggest wins are Bronco McKart, Shane Mosley (in a career slump) and a 1 fight removed from retirement after only beating Mayorga in his first fight at middleweight Trinidad. I thought he narrowly beat Taylor, but even still, does that deserve a hall of fame call?

Absolutely. He beat Shane Mosley, should have got the nod over Fernando Vargas, dominated Trinidad, beat McKart, Ike Quartey, Taylor fight was close could have gone either way, etc. If Kostya Tszyu is a hall of famer then so is Winky.

Antonio Tarver probably was a win away from being a hall of famer too, who Hopkins dominated at age 41, but Tarver fucked himself by testing positive for roids recently.

Anyways its besides the point. Point is I don't think his stats were correct (since for starters Marquez is still 39 years old and two it's happened before).

ha! you're too quick I edited to say Kostya Tszyu instead of Gatti as I think that's a better example (I understand how really popular guys make to the HOF because they do so much for the sport).

Taylor isn't a hall of famer by a long shot since he doesn't have a "great" win on his entire resume. His two wins against then 40 year old Hopkins are highly disputed, so was his draw against Winky and his only other title defenses were against two 154 pounders in Ouma & Spinks (worst fight ever), then he got blasted by Pavlik. Then Froch. Then Abraham.

So Taylor's resume is pretty damn thin.

2 wins, disputed or not, are as good as a dominant win over Trinidad at that stage of his career. And Trinidad never could handle movers with decent defense. I won money on that fight and I never bet on fights, it was obvious going in that he was gonna get murked. Winky was notorious for giving away late rounds, his close fights were his fault. Whether he let off the gas or not when he should've been winning is still his fault. I think if he didn't do that against Taylor, he won, no doubt and would've been a 2 division lineal champ, and a hall of famer. As it stands, I'm not so sure. He turned down fights he should've made, wasn't very active and doesn't have a great resume to me either and honestly, I was a huge supporter of his "boring" style and I liked him a lot.

And I'll admit that Kostya Tsyzu's resume doesn't have a ton of huge names on his resume in their primes but he had a number of really really strong wins and some good and once-great names at least. AND, the biggest thing is, he defined a fighter not building up a b.s. resume for the first few years. Look at the win-loss records of the fighters he fought from like his 3rd fight on. I was afraid he would get snubbed on a hall of fame call for years but figured this would really help his case. Not sure if it did for sure, but that is ridiculous. It's so rare it's really difficult to find someone that did this like him in a long long time. I can't even remember someone other than maybe Rigondeaux recently or maybe Lara and they were big time olympics standouts. I guess I can't think of a non-Cuban defector to do this is what I'm trying to say.

Towards the end of his career Winky wasn't very active and was dumb with money and priced himself out of an Oscar fight which he definitely wanted but he had this idea in his head he was worth more money than he was. But dude finished his career with 58 fights. He had a total of 12 title defenses and he unified the junior middleweight titles. IMO he's one of the greatest 154 pound fighters of all time. The mere fact he won some fights at 160 and should have been the undisputed MW champ as well is the cherry on top.

Ok then, how about Virgil Hill and Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson? They are both in and neither had better careers than Winky.

It's no secret the IBHOF has fairly low standards, but at the same time here are some really really good fighters still waiting to get in who should have been shoe ins (modern and old timers). They are a real head scratcher. Virgil Hill gets in this year, but guys like Nigel Been & Chris Eubank aren't even on the ballot. So you really don't know. Like I bet you anything 5 years from now Ricky Hatton will get in and does he deserve it? I don't think so. It's really anyone's guess.
